Papatzul is my favorite Mexican restaurant north of San Antonio. Try the saulsas sampler. I like the the tacitos. Veriy sabroso as is everything on the menu. The house margarita is excellent. I like to come early for lunch and sit in the window seat...and people watch the crowds on Grand and West Broadway.More
We went to Papatzul restaurant because of the many good reviews. The restaurant itself was very run-down and the service confused. The food was ok, but some of the dishes (f.e. the Guacamole) lacked spices. For a Saturday evening the restaurant was very empty - now...we know why.More
Happened to stumble across this place after a visit to a few museums in the area. The dining area is festive and comfortable. Since I arrived during happy hour, the waiter recommended I have the white sangria (excellent) and a hibiscus margarita (also excellent). The...esquites was creamy, tangy, and the corn was obviously fresh. I asked about the spiciness of the mole, and my waiter was kind enough to bring me a taste with a few chips in order to test it. I ended up ordering the Alambre de Pastor, which was roasted pork with veggies and cheese, served with tiny, freshly-made corn tortillas. The food was all really delicious, the wait staff were super friendly and efficient, and the bill was surprisingly affordable. I'll be recommending this place to everyone I know when they visit New York!More
We booked a table on Friday night, and were glad we did, as this place was busy. The food was delicious - we had tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa (fab, albeit it took a while to arrive), followed by pork, beef and fish tacos,...which were all great too. We timed our visit perfectly at 45 mins before the end of happy hour. We were keen to make the most of it so checked what was covered under the happy hour. We were told margaritas were covered so we ordered a couple of pitchers! As they took a while to arrive, we ordered 2 more once the first ones arrived, joking with our sever that we wanted to get in before happy hour ended! We had a great evening of food and drink, which was why it was a disappointment when we got our bill and I found we had been charged full price for the pitchers. When we challenged this, we were told the pitcher weren't covered by happy hour. After a bit of an argument, we got slightly discounted pitchers but not as cheap as they should have been, hence we left with a slightly bad taste in our mouths. A shame really but would still recommend for the food - just make sure you check what is and isn't covered by happy hour!More
