I had heard all of the hype, watched the Shack cam, waited in line, and after 30 or so minutes of waiting in line, ordering, and then waiting for the food I endulged. Though it was a good burger (I had the smoke Shack burger and the Wisconsin bacon cheese burger) I couldn't help but say "Culver's" and even "5... More

When these restaurants started appearing around NYC they had such long lines. I use to see Shake Shack feature on the news, food programs, and ads. When one popped up on East 86th St several years ago, I decided to stand the line. I didn't know what to order or how to order so I just followed the lead of... More

It's a fast food joint, but the burgers are amazing. Long line but worth the wait. Staff seems stressed but they're still friendly

Apologies for the overused title device, but this is a good chain restaurant for the basic American menu. They also have chicken burgers but I didn't have one. The overall rating says $$, but in terms of NY prices this is only $ and still have a decent meal. The burgers and fries are hot, decent shakes and friendly staff... More

The place is always bustling with long queues but luckily the service is fast. The chick stack burger is juicy and nice and should be eaten while its hot. Unfortunately getting a seat is always a challenge and most times have to take away.

The burger was a little bit too tinny, but I can't say it wasn't tasty. Not the best of New York, but it's nice if you don't wanna waste time having dinner.

Been to two of their locations, the one by the Brooklyn Bridge and on the one Broadway. The food is worth the wait - amazing shakes and good fries.

I found the burgers and fries very good but not quite up to all the hype that's been built up around the place. I also found the portions on the small side and was still hungry which I found amazing considering how big the portions normally are in the USA! Good but not quite the spectacular burger I was expecting... More

On our 1st night in NYC after a very long day of queues (immigration & traffic into Manhattan) we wanted something quick & easy. Headed to Shake Shack @ Madison Square Park. Already a queue when we arrived but our order was taken with 30mins. A further 10 mins to wait for our order to arrive - 2 SmokeShack doubles... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
