Be aware that this restaurant serves two types of Brisket (charged according to the weight of your order), one of them is lean and the other is moist. You have to state which one you want when placing your order. I tried the lean Brisket and found it to be virtually tasteless and of course it was dry. I will... More

On a business trip in NYC and expected a fancy dinner, so when my coworker suggested we all take the subway to get BBQ, I was leary...but what a pleasant surprise! It was crowded, which is a good sign! This place has an authentic TX feel and you order your food at a counter and take it to your seat,... More

Great atmosphere, super nice staff and fantastic food. The interior takes you straight into Texas-mode when entering and the smell of the smoked meat adds the final touch to that mind game. Excellent brisket and other kinds of smoked meat and the sides are also very good if you can manage to fit more food in your stomach.

I take my briskets very serious. I was expecting the usual ok/good bar b ques brisket but I was shocked. The brisket was as good as it's reputation and what my friends have told me. It was unbelievable. The sausage link was also very good and the place was busy and made you feel like you were at an awesome... More

It has a real (though ever-so-slightly faux) Texas farm/barbecue atmosphere. Lots of wood. Occasional rusted pieces of machinery dotted around for "ambience". It becomes clear pretty quickly that it's not a restaurant as such. You carry a ticket round with you to a couple of counters and the servers mark what you've taken on them. You pay at the end.... - Very noisy - No hot water in the restrooms - Cold by the tables close to the entrance - The spicy margarita I had was way to spicy and did unfortunately take away all the taste of the food - No extra effort put to the side orders to make them look good + This is like a McDonald's... More

My second visit to a Hill Country - the last one was in DC. As usual I over ordered (does everyone?) and ended up taking home food. The ribs were great, the chicken and links too. Happy hour drinks are great value. This time I over indulged in sides - collared greens, German potatoes and coleslaw. All fab. I just... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
