Daniela's is a small Italian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. It was empty when I went there as the coronavirus was picking up. The food was terrific. I had a huge dish called the "Chris Special" - rigatoni bolognese with chicken and mozzarella. I was extremely...hungry and it was extremely tasty and filling.More

Due to the shutdown most restaurants aren’t busy. We had the chicken piccata and fettuccine Alfredo. Both were cooked al dente and in a lot of garlic.

Went here before going to see a Broadway show. They seated us quickly, took our order quickly, and brought our food quickly., The food was very good and reasonably priced. Everyone in our party said they'd be happy to go back again. Hard to beat...this as a pre-theater option. We loved the mushroom risotto balls and are already planning to get them again on our next visit!More

We visited here after arriving late on our first night in NYC. We happened across this little place whilst wandering around close to our hotel. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the meatballs and it was great. Portions size was good and...I could not eat it all. Lovely homemade food and would definitely recommend.More

The food was tasty and the staff were friendly but it was expensive in comparison to other diners we visited.

Go early or make sure you have a reservation. There is a reason this restaurant is packed. It's just great Italian comfort food. We split a pizza as an appetizer and had chicken parmigiana and the short rib pappardelle as entrees. We recommend all of...it. The portions were huge, but so delicious that we tried to finish every bite (but couldn't). Service was friendly. We sat downstairs, which was very loud. But that just means that you have to be romantic and lean in closer to your companion to chat.More

We were just out exploring early on a very cold New York Wednesday morning. It wasn't busy so we decided to try it. We were seated by the window and enjoyed watching the people on their way to start their day. I ordered the avocado...toast and my husband ad the granola/yogurt/fresh fruit bowl Our service was gracious and we enjoyed our breakfast. An added bonus was that they are on the Hilton Honors Dining program.More

My spouse and I first visited Daniela Trattoria for drinks on a Sunday afternoon in late October 2019, then again for drinks in early November 2019. Daniela is open for breakfast, lunch/brunch, dinner, drinks, in-between, and late night daily. Diners can book a spot using...the online Open Table reservation system. Daniela Trattoria is located on bustling 8th Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets in Midtown West/Theatre District. (In fact, we visited Daniela prior to attending a Broadway show at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and John Golden Theatre nearby.) Although the exterior of Daniela might look a bit rough, inside is a lovely two-story dining space with exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and Italian-inspired prints and décor accents. On the street level, patrons dine at individual tables or at the small 4+ person bar. In warmer months, the front windows/walls can be retracted to allow a bit of al fresco dining. Upstairs is a larger dining room that features another small bar and additional restrooms (there is a single bathroom on the ground level) as well as seating at individual tables and at some tables that share one of two J-shaped padded banquettes on one side. Daniela serves Italian cuisine, including antipasti, soups, salads, pasta, pizzas, and formal entrees (meat and fish). Because the restaurant serves all meals of the day, it also offers international fare, particularly at breakfast/brunch time with eggs, omelets, sweets, and sandwiches. We had already eaten brunch elsewhere, so we sat at the street-level bar at Daniela and enjoyed some drinks. (FYI, they do not offer free refills on non-alcoholic beverages, which our server was kind enough to inform us of prior to charging us.) Sitting at the bar, on each of our visits, we observed the bartender plating desserts from the glass-fronted case adjacent to the bar; on each occasion, we witnessed her picking up a slice of cheesecake or other cakes with her bare hands – not gloved hands, nor using any utensil. She surely knew that we could see her, so we are concerned about what’s going on behind the scenes that caused a B rating at this establishment. We thought that she would have been on her “best behavior” knowing that patrons at the bar could see what she was doing. Daniela Trattoria provided us with a nice respite for drinks in a busy area.More

Overall, our experience at Daniela Trattoria was quite uneven, with some positives and some negatives. If you are looking for Italian comfort food in the area, it is probably a good choice. I ordered The Chris Special, a house specialty that includes baked rigatoni and...a chicken cutlet, and it was definitely a heav comfort food. My dinner partner ordered the Grilled Portobello salad, which she said was not at all what she expected but was quite tasty anyway. In contrast, the red sangria was so sweet as to almost be undrinkable, and service could have been better. While some waiters seemed to be personable, ours was brusque with us and just slung down our food and drink and kept moving.More

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times before. Never had any issues. But last night, I had a 6pm reservation for 3 people. My friends and I got to the restaurant a little before 6pm. At that point, there were already a lot...of people waiting for tables. There was no rhyme or reason with checking anyone in. Finally I told one of the servers that we had a reservation. He was running around trying to seat people and serve other tables. After waiting 30 minutes, my friends and I were seated. I think if I wasn't assertive enough, reminding them that we were waiting for a table (that was technically already reserved), we would've waited even longer. So much for making a reservation on Open Table. Once we were seated, I flagged down a server so we could order since we were going to an 8pm show. Thankfully, the food was served quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals (spaghetti and meatballs, gnocchi, and chicken parm) . Since I've been to this place before, I expected more from them. I understand that it was Saturday night and it was prime time for everyone having dinner. But what is the point of making a reservation if you can't hold the reservation? As Jerry Seinfeld said, the most important part of the reservation is the holding; anybody can just take them. My review was only 3 stars because of the wait. It really twisted me and it ruined the whole experience for enjoying a nice dinner before the show.More

No. I ordered eggplant parm and my husband had chicken parm. Neither were served with pasta. Both came with vegetable of the day (broccoli & cauliflower) and roasted red potatoes.
