The chicken and waffles is worth the trip. Excellent batter with house signature eggnog waffles. Melba has elevated several southern staples and delivers on a tasty and filling menu. The front room is more inviting than the back one. The house made ice creams and...More

IMPORTANT. For All Event Planners out there, DO NOT use Melba's for an event. You'll be VERY embarrassed. I still can't believe that with a 100% pre-paid confirmed dinner for 43, my entire party was left standing outside on the sidewalk for Over 30 minutes!!!...More

If you are going to eat in Harlem eat at Melba's! I really thought I knew what southern comfort food was but the food at Melba's changed me. Everything was delicious from the collards to the catfish to the shrimp and the mac and cheese....More

We were seated in the second part of the restaurant, there were two other tables occupied. Ordered the salmon fish cakes, with spinach and mac & cheese - all lovely, had to take some home as I could not eat it all. Lovely good food....More

As soon as we walked in the door we felt the heat. It was at least 80 degrees in there. I don't know if they were saving money or if it was broken but it was clearly too hot. The had the nerve to have...More

Great atmosphere. Traditional southern food, great collards. Service was only ok but I'm guessing someone didn't show up. Our poor waitress looked like she was covering a very big area. Didn't get to meet Melba which was kind of a disappointment. Oh well next time.

My niece and I visited Melba's restaurant for the first time during the Memorial Day weekend. The food was delicious, especially the buttermilk fried chicken, catfish, and the baked macaroni! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we received a warm welcome by the staff!...More

Their egg-nog waffles were ridiculously good and their fried chicken was incredible. I've had the other famous ones in NYC, and Melba's recipes are simply tastier. Chicken and waffles are about having just the right subtle amount of spices and texture both in and outside...More

They always have black eyed peas, but the service is a disaster there and it's not very clean. I'm not sure if they'll be open on New Year's Day. If they are the wait will be very long, since they don't manage their dining... More
