How many times have I walked by this place? Not sure but so glad I finally stopped in. Wonderfully tempting assortment of baked goods served up by the woman preparing them herself. This is a family run operation with mother preparing the goods and son putting them in the oven. Got a delicious baklava and a vegetable pastry. Picture perfect... More

I have lived in this area for a while but never actually went into the bakery. This time I saw that they remodeled it so that there is a counter area with stools to sit to eat and have coffee. It was empty when I went in and there is an entire selection of strudels [sweet and savory] along with... More

Love this bakery. All homemade Greek desserts and many savory items also like spinach pie,. But the specialty is honey soaked baclava, and ravani two of my favorites, plus lots of cookies, apple pies, strudels, etc. Well worth the price for something a bit different than you have or see all the time. On ninth avenue between 44 and 45th... More

Kitsch, knick-knacks, faded black and white family photos as well as newer color snaps, American and Greek flags, tin ceilings, welcome to Poseidon Bakery or as I’ve known it since I was a child, “the Greek bakery”. Poseidon is a family owned business and a proud fixture in Hell’s Kitchen since the early 1920s. Don’t expect to find a hipster... More

We like to stop in for a quick dessert bite. Love the baklava. Everything here is good. Location - it's next to Rudy's. Easy to pop to from Broadway shows.

One of the only placing remaining that still makes their phyllo dough from scratch--it has been a family favorite for decades.

You may not be impressed by Poseidon's modest storefront in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan, but this is a slice of old New York: a family-run business with high quality goods. Poseidon Bakery is a delicious, old-style bakery with some of the finest Greek desserts and specialties in NY. I'm especially fond of the afali and trigona but the... More

This bakery is amazing. Try finikia! Try spanakopita! Try kouramberies (butter cookies). You can also buy a tray of spanakopitas for your guests. It is one of these rare gems in New York, which specializes in one thing (baking) and do it really really good. It is a family owned and run place so you always feel well taken care... More

This place is really special: all the delicious pastries, sweet or savory, and the lovely family that owns it always has a nice chat about the neighborhood..

I used to walk here as kid when I lived in Hell's Kitchen. Thirty years ago, there were many more mom & pop shops like this all up and down 9th Avenue. No more. The days of family pride in such businesses is disappearing, so make it a point to visit here and scarf down both savory and sweet Greek... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
