What an amazing bakery!! The cherry strudel is to die for! The only problem with this place is the weight you'll put on because you won't be able to stop eating. It's also rare to find a family business doing well in midtown Manhattan but this place in an institution. The owners are very friendly and always happy to have... More

This is our 3rd year in a row that we have shopped at this absolutely wonderful Greek Bakery. This year we stopped by twice and got enough for the trip home the next day. This years visit consisted of Afali, Cherry Strudel, Apple Strudel, a Kreatopita, a Tiropita, and Baklava. Every thing we ate, and we ate it all, was... More

We stopped in on whim and now, it will be a destination. Fantastic people and awesome baked goods. We were pressed for time and wanted to grab something to snack on - this was the perfect stop! The spinach pie was chock full of flavor and the variety of baked goodies we had were fantastic. Very friendly people. I'm definitely... More

We joined a food on foot tour, which brought us to Poseidon. The oldest still functioning Greek bakery in Hells Kitchen. Although we were there with quite a large group, service was fast. The people behind the counter, the elderly lady in particular, were very friendly.. They were offered a tip, but they respectfully declined. Most important however was the... More

Once upon a time, these cookies were readily available throughout the city, but these days, you'll have to search long and hard to find them, especially on the West Side. But during the Christmas season, the Poseidon Bakery makes a killer version, both vanilla and chocolate. I was planning on bringing a bunch back home with me but sadly, the... More

all the food here is home made and delicious, this place has been in the clinton hells kitchen neighborhood for generations- you can not go wrong with anything they offer- they have great meat and spinach pies, all kinds of greek pastry- I like the poppy seed one myself and the cherry strudel but everything here is good and they... Service was poor. Cheesepies were cold and limited selection. Was very disappointed given the great reviews. Thought I may have been to the wrong bakery.

How many times have I walked by this place? Not sure but so glad I finally stopped in. Wonderfully tempting assortment of baked goods served up by the woman preparing them herself. This is a family run operation with mother preparing the goods and son putting them in the oven. Got a delicious baklava and a vegetable pastry. Picture perfect... More

I have lived in this area for a while but never actually went into the bakery. This time I saw that they remodeled it so that there is a counter area with stools to sit to eat and have coffee. It was empty when I went in and there is an entire selection of strudels [sweet and savory] along with... More

Love this bakery. All homemade Greek desserts and many savory items also like spinach pie,. But the specialty is honey soaked baclava, and ravani two of my favorites, plus lots of cookies, apple pies, strudels, etc. Well worth the price for something a bit different than you have or see all the time. On ninth avenue between 44 and 45th... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
