Max is a simple but excellent restaurant. The he menu is actually sophisticated as is the wine cellar but the decor and he ambiance are warm and reminiscent of a by gone era. Two things stand out: price and quality. The owner is Italian and will greet you warmly.

My boyfriend took me here. It was a very intimate, yet relaxed. I would recommend for a date night place. The food was unique, fantastic, and the right portion size. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. It was all so good I had to make room for dessert. Highly recommend.

We went here the other day and had no reservations. No worries, we got a seat anyway. We both ordered some pasta wich was awesome. Really good taste and not to difficult. Biggest problem was that we were really rushed because of other reservations. First of all, why give us a seat? Second, when we were done nobody was waiting... More

After reading reviews and looking at the menu (4 stars, 2$), this seemed like a safe bet. Pretty light crowd on a Saturday night should have been a warning, but we proceeded. The baratta app special was very light on the tomatoes and basil, but the cheese was good. My chicken limone was simply soggy. And overly lemony. Wife, who... More

Great location (a side street in Tribeca) and an intimate, cozy, minimal but well appointed inside. And they had a kids menu!!! Sadly, the food was just mediocre (I had lasagna, my daughter had speghetti and meatballs) and they charge for refills on soda...from a fountain. I won't return.

an intimate casual restaurant with great food and service...on a side street in the Tribeca area of NYC...very much for locals and definitely not a tourist spot...make reservations as this is a small restaurant ....well worth the trip.

The cab shot right past it -- it is not very prominent from the street, especially at night. This is a very small restaurant. We made a reservation and were shown right to our table. Service was very pleasant and prompt. The appetizers were an interesting mix. I enjoyed my wife's crostino -- toast with pate. It was excellent. My... More

I recently had two bad experiences here. During the first one, my friend asked for a little more sauce for his pasta because there wasn't enough on it. The server brought a little more sauce and surprised us with an additional charge for it on our bill. The manager refused to remove the charge. Stupidly, I went back for dinner... More

Poor management. They mishandled our reservation, then were unapologetic... rude, really. The food is average, at best. There are too many good restaurant in the area, and life is too short, to go here.

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighborhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighborhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighborhood home.
