My friends & I had dinner here on our first night in NYC and were not disappointed! The guacamole was just awesome. We also enjoyed the mango chile, Tamarindo, chile replenish & budin do pollo. You can't go wrong with this extensive menu. The staff were also fantastic!

Excellent Mexican restaurant. You have to order the guacamole made fresh at your tableside. Had a reservation, seated us promptly. Server was excellent, very attentive to our needs and questions. Food was served promptly and was excellent. The entire menu offers some excellent selections. You can't go wrong with the 1st Ave. Rosa Mexicano.

We went here basically because it was close to where we were staying. I found the service to be very slow the night we were there and for some reason out entire table was only given one menu that we had to share :-( will say that I had the fish tacos and that I thought they were very good.... Have been many times to Rosa M at this location. However, the quality of the food, service and cleanliness has deteriorated dramatically over the last year. I'm afraid my recent visit is my last. Our server could barely speak English and we had to constantly repeat and correct him. The restaurant was grossly understaffed and absolutely filthy. Clearly management have... More

Only had the frozen pomegranate margarita and the guacamole here, but it was delicious! 4 of us had 2 drinks each, and 2 orders of guac for the table... we were so full. The waiters are really attentive and even surprised me with a birthday shot! The ambiance is ok... it looks really cool from the outside, but the inside... More

Tableside guac is always a must and we also got queso this time. The queso was not too warm and so hardened rather quickly. On the flip side, our entrees (all tacos or enchiladas) were all delicious. We also ordered another round or two of drinks after food and the waitress was very accommodating-- it was great not to feel... More

Made a last minute reservation and glad we did. Very good table side Guacamole. Chunky which we love and a nice amount of heat too. Queso Fundido was very good as well. Friendly service both front of the house and wait staff. Main entrees were also on point. Flavorful and cooked perfectly. I had the Tres Enchiladas. Loved them! Pricey... More

Stopped in on a quiet Sunday for Happy Hour and the service and food was terrific. The tacos at 2 for $6.00 are a great value. Brisket taco especially good. Great service, waiter suggested I get the house margarita so he could tailor to my taste which he did.

I have been to the Rosa Mexicano in Minneapolis, where I am from, a few times in the past. We wanted a relaxed dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't a far walk from our hotel so we decided to go here for dinner. I always love the table side guacamole and the chicken tacos. Our server was excellent,... More

Description
Our flagship location opened its doors on First Avenue in 1984 and was bestowed with a glowing, two-star review from The New York Times. From the moment you arrive, old world charm permeates your dining experience through authentic Mexican colors and rustic folk art. Traditional amate gods greet you at the front entrance and brightly colored papel picado hangs from the ceiling. Corn tortillas are made on site and an exposition grill further seduces your senses. With its warm ambiance and outstanding cuisine, this Rosa Mexicano location has remained a perennial New York favorite for over 20 years.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
