The chef has come up with a choice of two tasting menus for dinner. As far as I am concerned, this is a great concept and served wonderful items which were a tour de force of more than 20 tastings, identified loosely in parts. This is not the traditional French menu, so if you are looking for steak frites, onglet, frogs' legs, paté en croute, poulet roti, chocolate mousse, etc., you might be disappointed. Go here if you are open-minded, willing to challenge your palate, and enjoy dishes made with care and delicacy. The ambiance is very open and airy, so, again, if you are seeking a darker environment with an intimate table for two, this might not be a good choice. The wine list is fine and you can order by the glass. The service is also excellent. In terms of price, well, if you didn't read between the lines, it's very expensive, but worth the price.

A wonderful tasting menu. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They were also patient when it came time to me wanting to photograph and video certain aspects of the meal.
We opted to do the larger course option and wine paring. Before the meal we also decided to give one of their signature cocktails a try. I opted for the GK daiquiri which was just sweet enough and had a great taste.
Each course was unique and caters to any dietary restrictions. What I liked was that even though we were only a party of two, they gave a couple courses that were different from each other. It gave us the opportunity to sample some extra tastes. Example, one course he had one dish and I had a different one, we shared small bites with each other.
The wine parings were excellent. What makes one of their wines unique is that they are the only ones to carry it in NYC. I think it was the Zao Wou-Ki Grand Vin de Bourgogne. It was fantastic being able to try.
So many delicious dishes but I especially loved the truffle risotto.
Their deserts were paired perfectly. I appreciated at the end of the meal they gave a mini menu of everything we were served.
I would definitely recommend and go back.

The food is not typical french food, more of a light European but incredibly flavorful and beautiful menu, sometimes with Asian or local market influences, but almost always fabulously delicious. They switched to a tasting menu format in 2019 (a shame since we prefer choosing our own dishes) but even with that switch, we are always extremely pleased with the food. Our favorite restaurant in NYC. We usually get the heritage menu due to food sensitivities. I recommend asking the waiter to go over the dishes before dining as some courses are served as 2 options, e.g. a fruity light dessert versus a chocolate dessert. From experience, they are able to accommodate gluten, nut, mushroom, and shellfish sensitivities. Recommend beef main dishes over pork and duck for best flavor. Even though individual portions are small, the sum total of the meal leaves you well satisfied.

We were so looking forward to our evening at this “fine” restaurant for my daughter’s 17th birthday. My kids are into Michelin star restaurants, so we were expecting a divine experience. Started with the mussel appetizer- the dish was very greasy. It is for 2, so I shared it with my mom. I mention this for a reason. She and I also ordered the same entrees- the duck breast. Waiting time was fine, as we enjoyed sipping our champagne. We were a table of 8, so when the dinners came, we had several waiters serving us to do so in unison. All the plates were down except my mother had a plain white empty dish in front of her. I was puzzled. I asked where my mothers dish was. I was told they thought we were sharing it! Of course this is NOT a dish for 2. I gave my mother my entree and said I’d wait for my dish. I was told it would be a short while. I waited, and waited. Finally I asked & they said it was being plated. I waited & waited while everyone was finishing their dinners that were fair at best. Needless to say, I’d lost my appetite at this point & told them not to bring my entree. Did they listen? No...out it came & I sent it back. I was disgusted. There is no maitre oddly. I was dealing with the bartender! He handled the problems & really was wonderful. I stated that I did not want to be upset when I get the bill, as I expected them to obviously make up for this. They removed the entire liquor bill & comped dessert. I ended up paying about half of the bill ($450). I told Michael, the bartender, that I will return when the bar is back open but will not dine there. The food was fair at best & they brought 7 dinners out to a table of 8. Honestly, by rights a restaurant of this “so-called” caliber should have removed all of the entrees from the table & remade everyone’s meals so they all came out together. Instead, the night was ruined.

My partner and I are visiting as many Michelin-starred restaurants with outdoor dining spaces as we can to compensate for the lack of travels and social life during the Covid19 pandemic. We both agree that Gabriel Kreuther's restaurant is a cut above the rest and we highly recommend it. The outdoor space is spacious, neat, elegant and gated i.e. strangers won't be awkwardly walking near your table while you are eating. I chose the Bryant Park menu with: Foie Gras Terrine and Pistachio Praline (amazing flavour and beautifully presented), Cod (rather simple, fresh and nice) and Chocolate Sundae (a velvety dream). My partner had the Housemade Trenne Pasta for starter (a generous portion, creamy and crunchy flavours, perfectly cooked pasta), the Steak Frites (a perfectly cooked and juicy meat cut accompanied with the perfect fries - not at all easy) and the Apple Mille Feuille (the most amazing dessert we have tried in a long time - original, tasty and beautiful to look at!). I loved the Sipping Emotions cocktail and my partner enjoyed his draught beer. The complimentary desserts were several little chocolate pralines and two buttery biscuits, all majestically prepared and presented. Staff were nice and professional, and they made the overall experience very pleasant. By comparison with similar restaurants, and considering the amazing overall quality, we found it reasonably priced. We will certainly go back!

We know there is a staff shortage in New York but 3 hours for a 2 course meal is not acceptable.
Very interesting menu but expensive and not good value for money.
Slothful untrained service.
Not a great experience.

We celebrated our anniversary at Gabriel Kreuther 2 weeks ago. The service and the food were both above reproach. We were impressed by the variety of flavors and the perfection of the preparation. The staff was unobtrusive and helpful; the sommelier was knowledgeable. ( We ordered the wine pairing). We like to experience the chef's vision, so we ordered the Carte Blanche tasting menu of 9 courses: fantastic, but too much food for me!
While the decor lacks the knock-out glamor of Per Se or the quiet elegance of Le Bernardin, the room quietly quotes Chef Kreutzer's native Alsace with soaring wood beams.

I expected the Alsatian inspired dishes that Chef Kreuther has become famous for, and that is exactly what we experienced during our recent visit here. If you are interested in experimental menu items, this is not the restaurant for you. This is elevated comfort food at its best, prepared by one of the best chefs in this country. Chef Kreuther visited our patio table and engaged in a memorable discussion with the children at our table. He explained to them the great care and consideration involved in choosing the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, the maitre d' walked the children through the front interior of the restaurant, pointing out the architectural details. For example, the maitre d’ explained that the beams were inspired by the barns of Chef Kreuther’s childhood. Overall, we had an amazing evening spent with the staff at Gabriel Kreuther.
Standout dishes were the smoked duck, sturgeon and sauerkraut tart, the hamachi crudo, and the trout.

Wonderful, surprising food and service when we dined early on a Friday night. We were served several small “surprise” items before the fixed price selections. Staff were so cordial and attentive. My husband especially liked the consommé as an “explosion of flavor”. I thought the sturgeon and sauerkraut tart was marvelous and I also really enjoyed the fruits and banana bread served with the faux grois…yum! The location by Bryant Park is great. A memorable restaurant and evening!

Decided for a Michelin stars rated restaurant for our anniversary dinner in New York.
We arrived to a beautiful space with a spacious bar divided by the dining area by long rough beams, reclaimed from older downtown buildings. It is a warm and inviting place, and discretely exposes the kitchen to the dining area, heightening the excitement for each upcoming course.
Cocktails at the bar were delivered with style and our bartender was a pleasant and chatty gentleman. The mood was reserved and romantic, just the low background sound of dining and light (sometimes excited) kitchen chatter.
Since it isn’t a place we will visit often, we took advantage of the chef’s tasting menu. We were glad we took this direction. The courses were incredibly beautiful and presented a wide range of technique and flavors. While promoted at six courses, it seemed more like a dozen with many pallet cleaning servings in between. So many favorites, but really loved the squid ink gnocchi with sausage ragu. Other courses include caviar, halibut, sturgeon, steak - all delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, most proper, at a nice pace, but also fun.
Our sommelier was most helpful as we decided against pairings and bought a couple bottles to accompany our courses. He listened well to us, but also moved us to bottles that would complement the pace of the food.
After eating too much, we’re were dazzled with some wonderful deserts, and lots of Kreuther chocolate.
Thanks for making our evening special

We went for our anniversary dinner. The service and the atmosphere were very good, we felt like we are well taken care of. The staff offered a coat check, there was an anniversary card on the table signed by the chef and a complementary chocolate tart. It would be nice to actually see the chef/owner walk to the floor, not just junior staff, but he wasn't in. Some food was very good and done just right (duck, lobster, desserts), some food was a mix/not executed (warm bread with a brick cold blob of butter, fois gras shoudl be chilled or room temperature - it was cold), and some other food was a bit too "eclectic" - shiitake mushrooms over lobster, root vegetable warm drink, truffles over beans. The latter was a new dish, and I would not recommend it. First, this type of bean has a strong texture and flavor overpowering the delicate unmistakable flavor and spongy texture of the truffle. Secondly, it had a $65 surcharge. Often, prix fixe menus have a price listed, if not, they have an asterisk to the dishes to indicate a surcharge, if not, the staff verbally indicates it as a courtesy. Nothing was disclosed, and my food turned out to be about $100 extra. My husband had a similar experience. Overall, we had a nice time, and it is little things make it great or just OK. Hope you have a better experience!

We have been to quite a few high end restaurants over the years, many with Michelin stars. This one has two. We found the 6 course chefs choice tasting menu very well designed and executed. The balance of the various platings was near perfect. The different courses were creative, unique, and delicious. No courses were disappointing—Gabriel Kreuther is clearly one of the more talented chefs today. In terms of service, we must give a thumbs up to our server noticing that one of us is left handed, moving the silverware to the left side, and even providing left-handed silverware. But unfortunately, there were other aspects of the restaurant and service that were poorly executed. For example, we ordered a bottle of Champagne with our tasting. Near the end, our glasses were removed from the table even though at least a quarter of the bottle still had champagne in it. Since the bottle wasn’t at the table, we could easily have left without finishing the bottle (Champagne here isn’t inexpensive!). After the last course, the server missed an opportunity to sell us an after dinner drink or coffee but not offering these to us. We were essentially forgotten at this point. It wasn’t a case of letting us enjoy our evening as long as we wanted the table; it was more that we were ignored for at least 20 minutes. Finally, the restaurant as a whole feels very casual with a noisy bar just across the entry hall and (here I’ll sound old) clearly no real dress code.

So we came here on a Friday night and unfortunately we will not be back. I’ll start by saying that the atmosphere and service was great. We did the chef’s tasting menu and added on the more expensive option for the wine pairing. The Som who poured our wine pairing was not very knowledgeable about any of the wines he poured for us. He didn’t explain wine and he was unable to answer questions we had, and when he did answer they were inadequate answers. We are very into wine and know a lot so we were unimpressed by a Michelin star som to say the least. He even said the wrong years for what he was pouring several times, and the years were on the bottles! It just seemed unprofessional and questionable as to weather he was really a sommelier or not. Next, the food. It was very bland and lacked flavor. Keep in mind that we have been to 13 Michelin star rated restaurants in NYC so far, we mainly come to the city solely to try the top rated restaurants. With that being said, this is the only one we haven’t liked or loved so far. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. It is expensive which we knew since it is so highly rated but it is not worth the money! I honestly don’t know how they got their Michelin star rating. With so many other restaurants definitely skip this one.

I made a reservation for a party of 7 a month previous. However, they insisted it was for 6. As a result my daughter was unable to join us for dinner although there were plenty of seats available. Our table was definitely able to accommodate 7. In addition, the service was subpar, especially considering that it is a Michelin 2 star restaurant. The server wasn't that great, in fact he was a bit rude. He stepped on three different people's shoes and caused some damage on one of them. Additionally, as he was cleaning the table he spilled some food scraps onto one of our party. This would have been acceptable, as accidents happen, had he apologized at all. Yet he acted as though he didn't notice at all and said nothing, though it had been obvious. A smaller concern was that for one of the dishes from the six course tasting menu was not introduced at all. However, considering the pandemic, I still put a $300 tip on the $1,447 bill. I will not be returning.

Our server Bridget was spectacular. She was able to describe every item in such a way that we could taste it before we were served. The cucumber gazpacho amuse Bouche was delicious. The foie gras spectacular with the raisin jam. The trout perfectly cooked. The Mille fleur was multi layered in flavor, a real treat. The decor is elegant but relaxed. We were glad to come in from the patio which was crowded noisy and the table wobbly. Not expensive compared to other New York restaurants that aren’t as detail oriented in the food and plating.
