Decided for a Michelin stars rated restaurant for our anniversary dinner in New York. We arrived to a beautiful space with a spacious bar divided by the dining area by long rough beams, reclaimed from older downtown buildings. It is a warm and inviting place,...and discretely exposes the kitchen to the dining area, heightening the excitement for each upcoming course. Cocktails at the bar were delivered with style and our bartender was a pleasant and chatty gentleman. The mood was reserved and romantic, just the low background sound of dining and light (sometimes excited) kitchen chatter. Since it isn’t a place we will visit often, we took advantage of the chef’s tasting menu. We were glad we took this direction. The courses were incredibly beautiful and presented a wide range of technique and flavors. While promoted at six courses, it seemed more like a dozen with many pallet cleaning servings in between. So many favorites, but really loved the squid ink gnocchi with sausage ragu. Other courses include caviar, halibut, sturgeon, steak - all delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, most proper, at a nice pace, but also fun. Our sommelier was most helpful as we decided against pairings and bought a couple bottles to accompany our courses. He listened well to us, but also moved us to bottles that would complement the pace of the food. After eating too much, we’re were dazzled with some wonderful deserts, and lots of Kreuther chocolate. Thanks for making our evening specialMore

I love Alsatian food and was so excited to find this restaurant. I’d been wanting to give it try for the longest time, and this past trip to NYC finally gave me the opportunity. The hostesses and dining room captains were really snobby and condescending....They didn’t give off a welcoming vibe at all. Luckily the server was fantastic, attentive, and super friendly. He was the highlight of the meal. Drinks were well made and had a nice balance of flavors. Presentation was nice too. The food was just ok. I was expecting it to be so much more authentic and it just wasn’t. The dining room decor was very clean and classic, and there were a lot of elegant touches to the tables, but they just couldn’t compensate for the food being subpar.More

Great food, amazing wine list and professional service make for a flawless experience. We ordered the chefs tasting menu for dinner. Creative, impeccably prepared food on every plate. Timely, friendly but non invasive service at every turn. Sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall great...experience.More

I came with a friend for lunch. We preferred to order a la carte. I'd say the food was very good, but relatively small portions--especially the desert. Like many restaurants, they offer no complimentary breads. They also offered no amuse-bouche even though they knew it...was a special occasion. I'm not shocked that they charged us $17 for a relatively small glass of poire that costs $14 per bottle, but I felt they crossed the line when a waitress started to pour another small $10 bottle of water without asking if we wanted it. Charge me as much as the traffic will bear, but at least ask me if I want it. The experience was a little cold, not what I'd consider hospitality. But maybe times are tough.More

This French restaurant’s Michelin stars are well deserved. My wife and I reunited with an old friend over their prix fixe menu and were delighted by every course we ordered. Even the breads and amuse-bouche were top notch, so much so that we were quite...surprised at how full we were by the end of the evening; pricey French + Michelin stars certainly did not equate to minuscule portions. Loved the cocktails, and the service was very attentive.More

The room is warm with naturalistic wood, large floral arrangements and soft lighting, a very inviting and relaxing respite from the City. The dishes and complements and visual presentation were delightful and tasty beyond comprehension, down to the smallest bites. Truly impressive for all the...senses. Love the glass dish made just for the Alsatian bread. Every bite was incredibly delicate and satisfying - will definitely be back. Staff were knowledgeable and helped with choices. Recommend the Panna cotta for dessert - a wonderful blend of creamy and fruity and not a traditional Panna cotta.More

Excellent Michelin star fine dining. The tables are spaced out and not crammed so a nice airy atmosphere. Food was excellent and service impeccable. We chose this restaurant and restaurant Daniel for our vacation and we preferred this one.

So we came here on a Friday night and unfortunately we will not be back. I’ll start by saying that the atmosphere and service was great. We did the chef’s tasting menu and added on the more expensive option for the wine pairing. The Som...who poured our wine pairing was not very knowledgeable about any of the wines he poured for us. He didn’t explain wine and he was unable to answer questions we had, and when he did answer they were inadequate answers. We are very into wine and know a lot so we were unimpressed by a Michelin star som to say the least. He even said the wrong years for what he was pouring several times, and the years were on the bottles! It just seemed unprofessional and questionable as to weather he was really a sommelier or not. Next, the food. It was very bland and lacked flavor. Keep in mind that we have been to 13 Michelin star rated restaurants in NYC so far, we mainly come to the city solely to try the top rated restaurants. With that being said, this is the only one we haven’t liked or loved so far. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. It is expensive which we knew since it is so highly rated but it is not worth the money! I honestly don’t know how they got their Michelin star rating. With so many other restaurants definitely skip this one.More

We went for our anniversary dinner. The service and the atmosphere were very good, we felt like we are well taken care of. The staff offered a coat check, there was an anniversary card on the table signed by the chef and a complementary chocolate...tart. It would be nice to actually see the chef/owner walk to the floor, not just junior staff, but he wasn't in. Some food was very good and done just right (duck, lobster, desserts), some food was a mix/not executed (warm bread with a brick cold blob of butter, fois gras shoudl be chilled or room temperature - it was cold), and some other food was a bit too "eclectic" - shiitake mushrooms over lobster, root vegetable warm drink, truffles over beans. The latter was a new dish, and I would not recommend it. First, this type of bean has a strong texture and flavor overpowering the delicate unmistakable flavor and spongy texture of the truffle. Secondly, it had a $65 surcharge. Often, prix fixe menus have a price listed, if not, they have an asterisk to the dishes to indicate a surcharge, if not, the staff verbally indicates it as a courtesy. Nothing was disclosed, and my food turned out to be about $100 extra. My husband had a similar experience. Overall, we had a nice time, and it is little things make it great or just OK. Hope you have a better experience!More

Our first trip to NYC, we visited Gabriel Kreuther during the Christmas holiday season. The restaurant was seasonably decorated and beautiful. We were there before a Broadway show so we didn’t have too much time and told our server. He recommended the 4-course tasting menu...and told us that he’d make sure we would finish dinner by 6:30 pm (the show starts at 7 pm.) Thanks to our server, we finished a little bit before 6:30. But the whole time we were there, there was no rush, yet not too slow. Each course came with perfect timing. The service was excellent. Each course was creative, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious! We loved everything about the dinner! This MICHELIN (2 stars) restaurant is an excellent restaurant for any special occasions!More

We had a wonderful meal and experience at GK last week. First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful and they took appropriate COVID-related precautions. We felt very safe. We selected the 4-course tasting menu and everything we had was beautifully presented and was worthy of...the Michelin rating. I can't comment on the wine list since I only had wine by the glass (which was excellent). The service was professional and friendly yet relaxed. The server's recommendations were spot on! I highly recommend GK for a special night out - you won't be disappointed.More

Gabriel Kreuther is absolutely outstanding in every aspect, well-worthy of its two Michelin stars. Service was exemplary, with dishes explained cheerfully and served in an orchestrated manner. We began with the mushroom and Comte flatbread for the table, and of course there were also several...imaginative amuse bouche selections— the red beet foam topped with a horseradish foam, bacon, pistachios, was gorgeous, inventive, delicious. Foie gras was sublime, and quite a generous portion. Squid ink pasta with smoked eel in a deconstructed carbonara sauce was truly amazing and most memorable. Duck breast was flavorful and succulent. Black cod was served in a red wine preparation with a tangy lemon sauce spooned atop. Apple tart came buried beneath peach sorbet, not too sweet, with cinnamon and crunch. The dining room was festive, as everyone seemed to enjoy everything immensely.More

Absolutely everything here was spot-on (there was one exception….read to the end). The service was excellent throughout, professional, expert attention. Part of our group went price fix, other ordered a la carte. Our advice; the price fix offers a couple unique items, not available a...la carte and also (the 4 course) is a lot of rich food - a la carte seems a bit better variety, which we really appreciated. The flambée apps were delicious, the duck and steak entrees were perfectly prepared and tasty. We also tried their signature starter of smoked sturgeon - very creative, unique and the presentation was a real “wow”. In the mix we tried their cheese board and starter Gem Salad (a reinvented and improved version of a Caesar Salad) - everything was delicious. They also specialize in dessert chocolates / cordials - absolutely perfect. The one thing we’d suggest is to make sure to fill up on your starters and dinners. Although the dessert chocolates are out of this world…the dessert menu (we tried 3 diff items) was a real disappointment compared to all the rest being perfection. Pls let me know if this was helpful.More
