This place is small and more cozy. The food was good, the service needed work, they were slow and didn't come check in to see if we needed anything and had to keep trying to grab the servers attention about 6 times during dinner. they gave our co-diner the wrong dessert. Overall not bad place. There are many better thai... More

On 9th Avenue between 37th and 36th on the east side of street. Have been here several times and always have had a good experience. Food is hot and tastes good. Has a small bar area and seating along the wall. Service is average most of the time. Very reliable place for a thai meal in NYC.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a colleague - I'm not sure why. The service is pleasant but hurried. The food is bland and the portions insanely small. Some elements of the facility have not been kept up nicely. If you've just "got" to have Thai and this is the only restaurant nearby, I suppose it will do.

My friend and I were in NY for a conference at Javits Center, and were craving for a great restaurant to eat nearby in the evening. We walked a few blocks towards B&H, and saw that Thai Select was highly ranked on Tripadvisor. It was happy hour time, so we got a great deal on 1/2 price wines as well.... More

The staff was friendly and attentive enough for NYC, but I expected a lot more flavor. I had chicken pad thai (yea, I'm a conservative eater) and it was very mild and average. It wasn't bad, just expected more. I've had better thai in Harrison Arkansas (really!) at Jasmine Thai Cuisine. Oh, and perhaps it's standard practice for New York,... More

We were looking for a place to find a quick bit after visit the Javits Center on a Saturday afternoon. We first noticed the Thai place on the other end of the block but then decided to have a look at the menu at Thai Select. For really no reason other than we were already in front of the place... Ate here before going to see the musical Beautiful. The food was outstanding, some of the best Thai food I have had, reasonable priced as well. The Thai fried rice is done like a good risotto, the rice is crisp and the flavors very fresh.

I had a hankering for some Thai curry so we walked around the block from our hotel and found Thai Select. So glad that we did! Everything was amazing! Even the chicken satay, which usually isn't anything to write home about, was fantastic! Their peanut dipping sauce was unlike anything I'd ever had. They were super friendly about making accommodations... More

Our last night in New York. We had tried Indian, Italian, American and now fancied something. Spicy and flavoursome. Thai select definitely delivered. They have a good selection of vegetarian options. We ordered teriyaki tofu and mock duck green curry. Green curry was so nice that we ended up ordering another one. The staff are very attentive and helpful and... More

After a long day of taking in the sights at New York Comic Con, I met several friends for dinner at Thai Select. They seated us quickly and kept us hydrated with endless refills of our water glasses. We had an array of appetizers that were all delicious. I ordered the red curry chicken. It came with rice, it was... More

Thai Select seeks to thrill the New York epicure with Thai that's global, fresh and fun. Located in the midtown-west area of Manhattan, Thai Select offers healthy, modern Thai cuisine with worldly flare. Although the signature taste remains authentic Thai in flavor, the presentation might be a bit French in aesthetics, a bit Italian in portion and a bit Japanese in simplicity. With dishes like Kee Mao Fettuccini (made with whole wheat pasta) and Fruit Fried Rice (stir-fried with seasonal fruits), Thai Crabcake (encrusted to perfection) and Coconut Puff Martini (jumbo shrimp hand-battered in coconut strips), the kitchen selects only the very best dishes in Thai cuisine and only the freshest of ingredients picked from the farmer's market for our patrons; hence the name, Thai Select.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
