Il Bastardo was recommended to me by a family friend and I cannot thank him enough for the tip. I went here last week with a large group for dinner. They were able to accommodate almost 15 people comfortably at a large table. The 3-course prix fixe menu is perfect and very reasonably priced for the area. All of the... More

We went to II Bastardo Restaurant in Manhattan because the original one we had intended to eat at was too busy. This restaurant was a few steps down the avenue and we noticed the name when we originally walked by it. It's the Italian word for "an illegitimate child"! We liked the look of the place and went in. It... More

A nice, neighborhood style place with good food and decent service. The bruschetta was among the best we've had, and the chicken parm and gnocchi bolognese were just right. We had two appetizers, two dinners and three drinks for $106 plus tip, decent for the neighborhood. We waited just a bit too long between courses, but that annoyance was offset... More

Stopped in for the prix fixe lunch so many options. Food was delicious - can I rave about their mozzarella caprese with fresh august tomatoes and real creamy on the inside mozzarella? Then rigatoni with eggplant and ricotta salata - scrumptious! House wine is only $5 a glass. It doesn't get better than this for lunch. Can't believe the restaurant... More

We spotted this place as we walked by in the day and went back for dinner the same night, both had fillet Mignon and it was lovely complimented with a nice bottle of red. The lighting throughout is nice and cosy, the atmosphere was nice and all the staff were really friendly, we had a bit of fun with our... More

We went to Il Bastardo for a birthday boozey brunch. The Sunday pre-fixed brunch menu is $50 and that includes an entree and bottle of champagne, rose, mimosa, or bellini per person. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation as it is very crowded and it seemed that those were needed. The food was ok, definitely get something with the... More

What an adorable place... Food was delicious, service was great and the Manager, Raquel was so sweet and outgoing and seemed to make every feel so welcomed.... We recommend the Calamari, Chicken Parmigiana and top it off with Tiramisu.....

We were looking for a brunch with a lively vibe. This place offers a $45 fixed price menu, including tip, rap music, shared tables and lots of areas to dance. There are no glasses, because they are too often broken. Each patron is given their own bottle with a straw. There were tons of birthday celebrations and people seemed to... More

I recently celebrated my birthday here with 15 guests. Once you step into this place you forget it's 1PM. You feel as if you're in a nightclub. Great music and good food. Great atmosphere and vibe. After eating we were able to get up and dance. Don't forget the individual bottles of champagne every person gets with their meal! Overall,... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
