We were looking for somewhere to eat before seeing a play at the Public Theater. Gemma had some beautiful outdoor seating, but it was too hot, so we went into the air conditioned inside. The restaurant is beautiful, the waiter who took care of us was Italian with a wonderful sense of humor and so humble. The food was absolutely... More

This restaurant is a pleasant surprise for its food, service and style in an off the beaten tourist track in between East Village and the Lower East Side. All brunch and lunch dishes are good and served with attention and care. Green tea is served in a teapot with s cup and saucer which is rare indeed in any Manhattan... More

The beautiful weather cooperated for a lovely patio dinner in July in New York! Delicious margherita pizza with arugula salad and grilled branzino served with green beans. Very enjoyable!

Great Italian food! Went with my family and we all really liked the appetizers and lunch dishes we had. The drinks were good, too! Staff was super nice and friendly. Both indoor and outside seating! Great for people watching (celebrities!!).

The general manager Max, is wonderful. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. He engaged us in some friendly conversation and gave us a few recommendations. We ordered the burrata, and the polenta fries to start. Both delicious!! We each had a pizza and they were phenomenal as well. The food was delicious. We would definitely go back.

We had a large group but they seated us at one of their large square tables that was ideal because you could see and converse with everyone. The food was amazing and they also had a great wine list!

I recently had a party of 11. We had to have a prefix to accommodate the group, but the options were amazing and the food that came out was so much that we were stuffed. the service was top notch and we had a great time. Highlights included the seared tuna and beans and the scallops. I would absolutely recommend... More

What a great place! We had a wonderful affordable wine Mezzacorona Teroldego. It's a great red that paired well with everything we ordered. We started with a margarita pizza and the octopus salad. Both were excellent. For dinner, we had lamb, scallops, ravioli and penne. We all enjoyed them immensely. For dessert we had the goat cheese cake, tiramisu, cinnamon... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
