What a find! Never, anywhere, have I had coq au vin or seafood linguine nearly as good. Warm, appreciative service by owners and staff alike. Intimate setting; garden is great. Not expensive, considering what you get. I'm really torn about posting this, because I don't really want all of you showing up here and making it impossible for us to... More

With the kids at camp my wife and I were hoping to catch up with some friends at a welcoming, casual place with character and great food...enter: Tree Bistro. The back yard area - which is tented (so even good in the rain) with an enchanting garden - has a nice mix of rustic long tables (good for groups) and... More

Went here after a recommendation from a friend in Sydney (Chelsea) Service was great and food was delicious. Small looking place from the front but opens up to a good size garden at the rear. Great wine choices. Something for everyone in the family (my hard to please mother even enjoyed it) Left slightly drunk after thoroughly enjoying the welcome... More

We arrived in town the day we dined here and it was pitch perfect for what we wanted: good food at reasonable prices, attentive but unobtrusive service, and a quiet, appealing space. I particularly recommend the roasted chicken. Also, the $25 corkage is a real plus.

First visit of hopefully many more... lovely lovely evening. We ate dinner in the garden and immediately thought that this is a place I could have my family and friends for dinner. The owner said they can do this!!

We had a lovely 'last' meal out with our two boys on Tuesday. The food was great ( We can recommend the starter plate and the boys calamari was fantastic) Definitely a place for the locals and we were made especially welcomed as 'visitors' with a complimentary speciality of frittered Oreos on top of our delicious key lime pie. The... More

Colm, the Owner, and Goldie, his Second In Command, greeted us as we walked into this charming, cozy and inviting bistro located in what still feels like the old school NYC east village I grew up knowing. An impressive and hand-selected wine list included a sauvignon blanc that I will return to enjoy there again. And then the food! We... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
