We stumbled upon the Tree Bistro one cold and wet October night while on a city break in NYC. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and staff. The atmosphere was definitely one of local neighbourhood bistro and many people seemed to know each other or the owner. Food and drink were outstanding - French style - and we were... More

The food was amazing, the owners are very nice, the place is cozy, highly recommend a dinner at Tree Bistro. Recommend: Cassoulet, and hamburger with fried truffled potato.

We read the reviews and were excited for our dinner. Really good wine last. The food was good - for the most part. Roast Chicken and Seafood Linguine very good. My husband ordered the Cassoulet and found it bland. We split the Oreo Panna Cotta and I found it too sweet. Lots of raves about the Patio. We must have... More

Just finished a meal and it was fresh, flavorful, original and delicious. What a lovely little place. Ate in the garden. Perfect night for eating out. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return for more.

We went to this restaurant for our first date and have become regulars. We liked it so much that we had our wedding rehearsal dinner there. The service is excellent and the menu is delightful. Food has been consistently wonderful and flavorful with enough variety to always keep it interesting; something for everyone, even fussy eaters. The garden is a... More

What a find! Never, anywhere, have I had coq au vin or seafood linguine nearly as good. Warm, appreciative service by owners and staff alike. Intimate setting; garden is great. Not expensive, considering what you get. I'm really torn about posting this, because I don't really want all of you showing up here and making it impossible for us to... More

With the kids at camp my wife and I were hoping to catch up with some friends at a welcoming, casual place with character and great food...enter: Tree Bistro. The back yard area - which is tented (so even good in the rain) with an enchanting garden - has a nice mix of rustic long tables (good for groups) and... More

Went here after a recommendation from a friend in Sydney (Chelsea) Service was great and food was delicious. Small looking place from the front but opens up to a good size garden at the rear. Great wine choices. Something for everyone in the family (my hard to please mother even enjoyed it) Left slightly drunk after thoroughly enjoying the welcome... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
