Delicious New York style Cheesecake--light and fluffy--full of flavor. There are so many selections to choose from, but they are small, cup cake sized, so you do not feel stuffed after eating them, or you could sample two or three different flavors.

While walking through Little Italy we found the little cheesecake shop and we totally fell in love with it's flair! About 25 different kinds of cheesecake - each looking so yummi that you wanted to try every favor... We had a great time out of the big city in there- defenetly visiting it again!

I didn't want to write this review. I wanted Eileen's cheesecake all for myself. Ok, maybe for my beloved family as well. But I'm a little too selfish to share this with everyone. I used to live in the city. I've tried cheesecake just about everywhere I go, and at more cheesecake places in NY than I can count. Eileen's... More

I liked that they did little individual cheesecakes. It made it so we could get a few different flavors to share without going too over the top.

This was one of my favourite memories of New York - stuffing my face with lots of cheesecakes. They come in miniature size so you can try lots of different flavours. My favourite was a nutty one with pecans.

I watched James Martin (a UK chef) visit here in an episode of one of his shows and I knew I needed to go. It was labelled as the ‘best cheesecake in NYC’ and I’ve got to say, I can’t argue with that statement. We were lucky to visit when the shop was quiet (mid-afternoon) and were served by two... More

Wow, one of the best cheesecake i've tasted. It's a cheesecake heaven. I went back twice. It's very creamy and light. There's so many flavors to choose from. The service is great. Very small shop with few tables at the corner of Cleveland st. A not to be missed for cheesecake lovers

You need to keep your head up in the game to find this place. Located across from a small park....believe it's called Petricino park, and across from a "taco bar" which is a whole other story name la esquina, you find this small ...whole in the wall...spot that might serve the best cheesecake on the planet. This is high praise,... More

Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!

Staying in Nolita

Neighborhood Profile
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighborhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighborhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
