It is worth going for them. There is usually a line but they are fast serving. The best cookings I have ever tasted in a place you wouldn't imagine.

Shared the Bakery with my sons for the first time and now I think it will have to become a regular stop! Their cookies are the best I have ever had! Love the double chocolate! Wish they would make a chocolate chip without walnuts!

This little bakery makes the best cookies in all of NYC - no lie! The cookie is the size of a mini cake and comes in 4 standard flavors. The little bakery is on a residential street where you can easily miss it - if not for the huge line up. There is no seating aside from a bench outside.... More

Lines out the door and around the corner are common on Friday afternoons just before close. Practically, everyone in the neighborhood who loves fresh backed cookies comes here. My friends in Europe know of this place and actually request that I get a bagful before flying to meet them. Yes, they are that good. Enjoy!

Trust me, we were on a hunt, and we thought we'd found the top (I won't say whom, but I'll probably write a review...), and then while walking along, munching on said cookies, and raving about them, another couple said "...sure those are good, but have you tried Levain!". And the rest is history! Leavin's cookies are incredible, first off,... More

These cookies are amazing: soft and gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside, and always warm! I split the chocolate peanut with my parents. (The cookies are large.) My mom can't wait for her next visit; she wants her own cookie this time!

The cookies here are just insane. They have the perfect consistency and are always warm when you get them. There is always a huge line outside that takes about 15-30 minutes to get through but you can call ahead and order for pickup and skip it. They also do large orders for parties. The space is extremely small inside so... More

The line does move fast. We waited about 25 minutes on a weekend. The cookies are worth the wait .They are huge so I could barely finish one. They have a crunch on the outside but are soft in the center. They travel well and still tasted great the following day.

These cookies are worth whatever they are currently charging. The oatmeal was my favorite and that surprised me. It is so cakey and delicious that I'm getting fat just thinking about it.

Tucked away on uptown Frederick Douglas, I stumbled upon this superb bakery. There were only a few items offered at what seemed like excessive prices until I sampled them and became a convert.

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
