We always get boxes of Levain to bring back home when in NYC. However, it seemed the cookies are sweeter than we ate in 2015. Nothing bad with a little added sugar but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Oh...More

It was so worth it to visit Levain Bakery. The chocolate chocolate chip was my favorite. This location was a good spot to sit inside and enjoy your treats. Clean and staff were friendly.

Easily, one of the BEST cookies to be found in NYC! Levain stands in a class of its own with its crunchy yet soft & chewy warm-out-of-the-oven-melt-in-your-mouth cookies! They're dense and quite sizeable and not your average cookies. Definitely a must-try (especially the chocolate chip...More

This really is worth a trip for cookies, and I'm not even a cookie person like that. Get two, you'll want another later.

These cookies are amazing, rich, decadent and you seriously can't eat more than one. Mostly we split them. One cookie can be dessert for four people! Be prepared for a line, which moves pretty quickly. Enjoy!

These cookies are sinfully rich - technically 2 or 3 people should probably split one cookie...but they're SO good, bet you won’t want to share!

Small little grab and go place. Little seating at the west 70s location. I have not been to the others. Staff is making fresh cookies around the clock. Sometimes there is a little bit of a line but it moves fast. Cookies are always fresh....More

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
