The cookies are like a full meal! We had to queue for some time to get into the tiny bakery through the sheer volume of people wanting cookies. The place is small and the staff are working constantly and the line remains huge. Our cookies were well worth the wait. Gooey in the middle and crispy and the outside.... and... More

This delicious little bakery squirreled away in the heart of NYC is worth the trek to find because those cookies are amazing! One of the best decisions we made on our trip!

The best experience after visiting the Museum. Served warm, these really are one of the best biscuits/cookies in the world.

We are a European couple (British and German) and stopped in at the Levain Bakery during our New England and New York road trip stop in NYC. We had discovered this place through social media and wanted to try the monster cookies for ourselves and were not disappointed. We tried the walnut chocolate chip, double chocolate, and the raison and... More

Visiting with my cousin and he told me he had a surprise for us. Pulled up to a little shop with a long line. I was surprised to see such a long line for cookies. No longer surprised. He bought one of each, which we cut into fours. WOW, an explosion of goodness. We were sold. Thanks Eddie for such... More

They only sell four kinds of cookies at Levain. Chocolate chip with walnuts is the classic. However, the winner is the chocolate chocolate chip with peanut butter cups. I'm drooling as I type this just thinking about it. Each cookie costs $4 plus tax. So, it's not the cheapest cookie around. But, it's probably the best. There is always a... More

Wow. We asked for sweet recommendations other than NY Cheesecake. Directed to "the big cookie place". Found Levain Bakery by looking for the long queue. But it moved fast. Tasted all cookies... big enough for 2-3 people to share. Weigh a ton and pack a lot of flavor. Wish I lived in NYC. Would do what others were doing...queuing up... More

You must go to the Levain Bakery! Cookies are so good. I had the chocolate chip walnut and my daughter had the dark chocolate peanut butter. She is not a dark chocolate fan so it wasn't too dark. Chunks of peanut butter throughout. Best thing is that they are warm. I want to go back!!

Friends (and fellow dessert enthusiasts) who live in NYC recommended I visit Levain Bakery for some cookies during my stay in NYC. The line was out the door, and I understand why! The double chocolate cookie was, quite possibly, the most delicious cookie I have ever tasted. Impressively thick, perfectly baked, and delightfully warm and gooey in the center. Make... More

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
