There seems to be some confusion of where this is, with one listing showing 222 Lafayette and another 155 Grand. Both look identical in logo from photos, so maybe it was a change in location?
We went to 155 grand and enjoyed oysters and champagne in a chilled out environment with exceptionally helpful and friendly service assistants to help us make the most of our time at Ed’s. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a friendly vibe and delicious food.

My kids first time in New York. We live in Virginia. Stopped in around 4 pm. I agree the lobster roll is delicious but this place is pricey. One lobster roll, a bowl of soup and 6 oysters for $70. We all had water to drink.

I come with with my father pretty much every week. I'm obsessed with the lobster roll and blueberry creme brulee! They have a great selection of drinks and the service is great, everyone is super friendly. I'm slowly making my way through the menu, it's a little expensive but the most worth it is the lobster roll.

I was extremely disappointed when I took a friend for lunch today. I was expecting to have the same experienced I had before the pandemia and for that reason I went back today.
The place looked dirty, unkempt and poorly managed. We sat outside and after our order was taken we waited 20 minutes before a waitress came and realized our order had not been placed.
We ordered the "famous" Ed's Lobster Roll and when it came we could not believe the size and its presentation on a hot dog roll. Pitiful. Nothing to match the Coast Guard House at Narragansett, RI, where yesterday we ordered the same dish and were very pleased with the size, flavor and presentation, not to mention the service as well.
Ed's needs great deal of improvement to keep maintaining its customers happy!!
I do not recommend the place.

As a lover of lobster, I was looking forward to this place. The experience was a complete disaster. First, the server takes 12 minutes to realize that I was actually at the table. She finally comes and asks me what I want. I tell her that I haven't seen the menu, and ask her if she can bring me one. She starts laughing. I ask her if she's okay, and she keeps laughing. I give up and order two items that I assume they have: lobster bisque and mac and cheese. She leaves while I try to stop her: I wanted a glass of brut rosé—but she does not listen.
20 minutes later, another server brings my bisque. No water, no silverware. I ask him if I can have a spoon and a glass of water. A few minutes later my other server comes with a spoon (no water). I ask for water again, and for a glass of rosé champagne. I eat my bisque (good, no oyster crackers, unlike other tables). The water finally comes; no sign of the champagne.
About 20 minutes later my mac and cheese arrive. Again, I have to ask for a fork and remind her about the rosé champagne, insisting that if they don't bring it now it ' not worth it. A few minutes later, they bring me a glass of white wine. I tell my server that I had asked for a rosé champagne, and she asks me if I want rosé wine. I insist that I want rosé CHAMPAGNE. She finally brings me the glass, when I am half way through my dish—correct, not much lobster, way too creamy.
All in all, a terrible $60 dining experience. I felt laughed at, forgotten, and mistreated.

I've been coming to Ed's since they opened and it's with a heavy heart that I can no longer recommend it. Between covid and inflation, I expect a drop in quality but Ed's has become much much worse. The Lobster is tasteless and the Mac and cheese is Kraft's supermarket quality. The portions too small but the price is gone up far too much. AVOID.

I'm appalled to read some recent positive reviews of this place. I don't usually criticize restaurants because I respect the work of others, nor do I consider myself a food critic, but how can you speak in a positive light about a place which, from what I have seen this evening, I could even define as "shameful" …? And this despite the great swing in prices and quality typical of New York.
A totally liquid Clam Chowder and not as creamy as it should be; a Lobster Salad which was a shapeless mountain of salad with a small piece of boiled lobster, tasteless and with the consistency of plastic, all "seasoned" with a quantity of vinegar that made the dish almost inedible (so much so that I left more than half of it) and with the young lady at the tables who looked at me crossly and incredulously when I asked her to please also have some other type of dressing; half a sandwich requested at the beginning and arrived at the end when it was now useless saying that in the kitchen they had had to ... heat it (😳); a place with peeling walls, electrical wires dangling towards unlikely electric heaters, pieces of paper under the legs of the tables to keep them from wobbling, all for the modest sum of around 160 USD for 2 with two bottles of water and a glass of wine… But how can you say that it is a place to go and eat good fish at acceptable prices…?? Unless we are talking about two different places...: I went there because a few years ago I had been to a nice little restaurant in that area called Ed's Lobster Bar and where you could eat well even at the counter or in a small and charming room: I was convinced I would return to the same place but, evidently, either the "name" has been sold to someone else or there is a (I think unlikely) homonymy. Absolutely avoid (see photo)

Ed's Lobster Bar is a seafood restaurant in New York's SoHo neighborhood that opened its doors on March 16, 2007 as a dream come true for its chef and owner, Ed McFarland, who had always wanted to create exceptional seafood dishes. The restaurant got off to an unexpected start when, on its first day, there was a line down the street during a hail storm. Despite the weather, people were eager to try the dishes of Ed's Lobster Bar, and the restaurant quickly became popular among locals and tourists and even today its fame lives up to expectations. Inside you can choose to eat at the counter with a view of the raw chef or at the tables. Try the chef's signature dishes

My wife took me for my birthday. Not only was the food terrific, but the cooking was surprisingly creative. And my drink was wonderful. I had the lobster roll with fries. Both were superb. I also had the blueberry margarita, which was delicious. My wife had the grilled asparagus and octopus. She loved both. My only complaint is about the music, which was relatively low but not what most folks will enjoy. (Reggaeton, oddly enough.)

Wes topped in for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Some really good shrimp and the kids loved their lobster rolls. My lobster Mac n cheese was great, just a smaller portion or it would have been a 5 star rating. Great location in SoHo.

The lobster roll was the best I ever had. The service was friendly and appropriately attentive. I was there for lunch and almost went back for dinner.

We’ve always loved this place for the lobster rolls and service. I’m a native Rhodesia Islander and this Soho lobster shack delivers the real thing. They’ve moved recently a couple of blocks to a new location on the corner of Grand and Lafayette - look for it.
