First time ordering from here. They show some promise and will try it again. But the first experience was average. Chicken with string beans, spicy, and brown rice. Rice was good. The chicken dish was loaded with string beans and finding the chicken was difficult. The flavor was good so perhaps there is hope!

Chickened out of getting anything too exotic, but what we did select was marvelous, well prepared, tasty and SPICY. Cost was below my expectations. Overall , good value..little hard to find as it is very tiny

Ate here with a group of people and thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered: Steamed Crystal Dumplings, String Beans, Eggplant with Garlic sauce and Spareribs with cumin. Reasonable and well chosen wine list, and reasonable prices. Will be back!

There are several restaurants with this name around Manhattan. This particular one was highly recommended by a Chinese woman who works with our friend who lives in Manhattan. We were here for a dinner on a Sunday evening after attending an early evening show. There is nothing special about the dining room. Simple but clean décor. The food was outstanding.... More

I have been coming to this gem for years, and for good reason. This place has been discovered and is frequently packed with people in the know. The menu is not your ordinary Chinese and they really know how to cook. We particularly enjoy the chicken with Chinese broccoli, shredded beef with spicy green peppers, Singapore noodles, pork soup dumplings... More

There’s one Chinese restaurant in midtown NYC that I find myself drawn to again and again: Grand Sichuan Eastern. The décor is ordinary, the staff abrupt, but the food. Ah! Tingling hot, spicy and interesting. Most dishes you’ll not find in most Chinese restaurants. Try Boneless whole fish with pinenuts (not chili-hot); M0 Pa Tofu, spicy bean curd with minced... More

This is my favorite restaurant in NYC and maybe the planet. I have visited countless times and keep going back for more. I just love the spice and mouth tingling sichuan peppered dishes. Its just AWESOME.

This is authentic Sichuan including the soup dumplings which are excellent. We live nearby and go often for a change of pace. It's plain and little English spoken plus menu has some wonky options. Be brave and try or stick with more recognizable choices. The dried string beans with minced pork is a favorite. There are good lunch specials featuring... More

The place is small but very comfortable (and clean). We had 3 items - all were excellent. Above all is the professional but friendly service. Good prices!

A Chinese friend recommended this place as authentic. Lots of choices and very nice staff. The food was excellent. Be prepared, when it says spicy it really is. I had the Sichuan Cumin a Lamb which was very good and spicy. The shrimp dumplings were perfect.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
