This is our second time dining at Amata. We've been spending several nights a month in the city and Amata is the best Italian restaurant we have found. Being Italian , we tend to be hard to please. We had the fried meatballs with peppers. Excellent! Reminded me of my childhood . We also had the clams oreganata - also delicious! For entrees I had the lemon infused pasta with asparagus and tomatoe - just loved it. My husband had the ravioli with mushroom sauce. Of course I had to have some of that. It was decadent but not over the top with this sauce . Umm Umm good! This is a very nice restaurant with comfortable seating , well spaced tables, White table cloths and beautiful wood floors. A great find. And prices are reasonable.

My husband and I just stayed in NYC for a month of medical treatment/mini vacation/work from apartment. Amata became our favorite local spot. Chris D and team were kind, welcoming and funny. We loved eating at the bar and the other clients were also so much fun. Back n CT and will be coming back for this most amazing restaurant!!

Absolutely FABULOUS! The service was profession.friendly, and Catered to our every need. The food was delicious with large portions. We’re still talking about how tasty rhe chicken martini was! Desserts were a special treat! We had an adult birthday party with 36 guests. They all loved the private room. The manager, Chris, was so helpful and a delight to work with!

Came to amata with my nieces On a rainy Saturday night. We didn’t have a reservation and were sat without a problem Lauren had the flatbread pizza with sausage which was phenomenal. I had the burrata which was fair at best. For dinner I had the pork chop which was excellent. Emme had linguine with clam sauce and Lauren had the chicken parmigiana. Service was excellent

Having nearby appointments over a two-day stay, we invited family to dine with us at Amata on E. 56th St in Midtown. Selected mainly by reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor, we made a reservation and went about our NYC appointments. Hungry, we arrived at Amata and were met by the very amiable host Christopher. After some fun with Chris at the bar we were seated in the cozy and nicely-appointed dining room. The staff quickly and easily took drink orders, brought water and fresh bread and olive oil. Our relaxed and professional waiter took our appetizer orders and answered questions and went over the evening’s specials. We are frequent visitors to the Arthur Avenue Italian restaurants and, while the food there is almost always good we sometimes feel rushed, and also become part of the hustle and bustle in that old neighborhood in The Bronx. Not so at Amata, where we were relaxed and never felt like we had to move on because they wanted to seat other patrons as the dining room filled up. The appetizers, clams casino and calamari, were delicious and were savored by our family group. Our entrees were delicious and covered items like the house-made cavatelli, paccheri, tagliolini and my veal piccata special that was the best veal I have had in ages. Plates arrived and were removed in an unobtrusive way by friendly staff who enhanced the whole meal. Desserts and cappuccinos and lattes were enjoyed by all and the staff was quite happy we enjoyed our dinner at Amata so much. We were shown to the door by Chris, and I wasn’t at all surprised to discover later that Chris is a member of a well-known family of NYC restauranteurs, some of whom are close friends from The Bronx. Small world. By all means, have a meal in this great, cozy, nicely-appointed white linen Italian ristorante. Your host Chris and his staff and especially their chef Enzo know how to make you feel at home while you enjoy your excellent meal.

What a great find. Amata is delicious. The menu has a number of things on it which are unusual, which makes it a fun evening. If you don't see what you like, they will make it for you. The tables are well spaced so that the noise level is low (despite the dining room being full) and conversations are private. Prices are fair. Service can get busy, but not so much as to be annoying. I am in a wheelchair and there is ample room to maneuver around. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Amata came recommended and we were not disappointed .First class service and food from start to finish . They couldn’t have been more helpful. Food we chose was the “Double pork chops” and the “Chicken Martini”. Great choice . Highlight was definitely the “ Pistachio Ice Cream wrapped in White Chocolate. Long way to come from Scotland but would come again to Amata.

My friends and I enjoyed our first time at Amata’s. It had more of a neighborhood feel than a tourist trap. Love the cocktail menu, great variety. Nice choices on the food menu. I thought they were reasonably priced. Very good service.

Our visit to Amata was based on a friend's recommendation and that was spot on. Instead of ridiculous NYC prices for hohum food, we found our new favorite. The service - simply superb, reasonable prices, and great food were our experience. It made our Saturday night. I had the fettucine with wild boar ragu...omg I want more!

My wife planned a very small gathering of close friends and family for appetizers and drinks with family remaining for dinner. The staff was amazing, from bar tender to waiters, our every need was met and the food was delicious. Linguine with white clam sauce, broccoli Rabe and all manner of Italian delights flowed from the kitchen.

This is my most favorite restaurant. I have eaten at Amata many times so I finally feel compelled to share my accolades. The atmosphere is elegant, warm and comfortable. From the moment you walk in you are treated superbly. And then the food! Just absolutely delicious and you will not leave hungry. The portions are large and their veal parmigiana is one of the best dishes I've ever had. Amata thruly delivers and yes they have their act together. And then there is Olga behind the bar!!!

A good Italian restaurant serving the classics (parmigiana...eggplant, chicken or veal), mozzarella caprese, meatballs, and fried calamari with sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and arugula in a mildly sweet, tasty, non-red sauce (a standout). The pappardelle with crab, peas and tomato was also a very good dish. The atmosphere is warm, not frenetic and so pleasantly low key. The host and waitstaff are professional, accommodating and attentive, but not intrusive. The food and atmosphere are more old-school Italian, and dinner is relaxing, not rushed, and not a scene. We enjoyed our leisurely evening at Amata and will definitely return.
