I visited alone on a Friday night, and after putting in my order, received word from home that I would need to rush back. The server was extremely attentive and compassionate, and turned my order into a takeaway quickly. Appetizers: Eggplant- rather bland, would not order again Tzatziki- creamy and amazing! highly recommended Pita- delicious and fresh Main: Lamb-- DELICIOUS.... More

This is a wonderful Greek/Mediterranean restaurant that has a robust menu, generous portions and extremely friendly wait staff. they have both a before 6:00 P.M. menu and a prefix menu that by New York prices are low. Everything is fresh and authentic. Every time I go back, I always ask why don't I go there more often.

KEFI has an upstairs and downstairs we chose downstairs as we were told it was quieter. I personally would've stayed upstairs because I like lively. I started with the butternut squash soup which was quite a generous portion and very good. For my main course I had the trout which was plain but good. I had one of the Greek... More

Had dinner here over the weekend with some friends. We were expecting an outstanding Greek meal, given the reputation, but we we were not impressed. The Greek Paella and lamb shank dinners our friends had were good. The whole lavraki was good, but we get better in Astoria. The pork souvlaki I had was overcooked, tough and had no flavor... More

Great service and great food. Really a 4.5. We had breakfast and some had lunch. The egg dishes and skillets were very good and came out hot. Sandwiches were large and very tasty. Homemade potato chips were great? Server was Axilleas, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

A friend and I took a chance and were very surprised at the variety and quality of food. The staff was friendly; the food delicious and the prices reasonable. We both would return.

My husband and I had dinner at Kefi based on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. The restaurant is extremely spacious with a bar area on the street level, a main dining area a few steps up and additional seating in the lower level. The ambiance was casual and welcoming. As for the food, we shared... More

I have been here twice (once for dinner, once for brunch) and love it! Great atmosphere, great service. It's a super menu for adults and teens alike. The octopus is exceptional. I will return when I visit NYC again!

This is great Greek food - Mediterranean flavors, fresh ingredients, light and flavorful. Met up there with friends for dinner before attending a concert at Symphony Space. We were six, which was great because we could share lots of options. Definitely order the four-dip sampler, each one sets the bar of how these foods should taste. Much to my surprise,... More

We got a Groupon for Sunday brunch and felt guilty that we barely could touch our plates. It was so amazing and filling. I recommend the breakfast souvlaki and the sampler of dips. Their bottomless sangria was really good too. Don't miss this gem. The waitstaff (Diana) was great. We loved the whole experience.

Description
Chef Michael Psilakis and partner Donatella Arpaia have moved their rustic Greek gem, Kefi, to a larger space at 505 Columbus Avenue. The new, 200-seat interior evokes the feeling of a palatial Greek hideaway broken up into several smaller dining rooms to keep Kefi’s intimate appeal. The menu of favorites straight from Psilakis’ childhood will remain the same with some new additions. Signature dishes like Baccala, crispy-fried cod with garlic potatoes and tomato, Grilled Octopus with bean salad, and Hilopita, baked pasta with rabbit ragout and béchamel are still on offer. Additions include Grilled Sardines with chopped “Greek Salad” and garlic sauce, Macaronia Spestofai, tubular pasta with Greek sausage, peppers, onions, tomato and feta and an entirely new section of Greek Sandwiches featuring house-made sausages and pork and lamb gyro.
