This place has a great atmosphere. The decor is chic and the food was great. Small portions, but the presentation was superb. The service was wonder as well as the waiter gave us plenty of time and answered all of our questions.

Back in the day when this was place first opened in 2006/2007 it was one of the hottest restaurants in NYC. Andrew Carmellini was the chef, his signature duck meatballs, fresh ricotta with EVO, homemade pastas, Black Sea Bass, bomboloni, the pork chop , everything fantastic. The main courses were as interesting as the clientele. DeNiro, Madonna, Woody Allen, &... More

A Voce make it clear on their web site that wine is their "thing" and explain why. That being so, you should not be surprised at the sometimes eye watering prices on the wine list. The wine choice (which is extensive), perhaps understandably, sometimes leans towards offering a range of different vintages for the same wine or estate. While the... More

Ambience was a bit drab but suited perfectly for the lunch time. Food had a nice presentation and evoked nice sensation to the palette. Portions were a little on the smaller side but I did not mind it.

Wine to Pasta to desert and service is to die for. The posts is probably the best next to being at Italy. Comfortable and exquisite service. Can't go wrong. If you want to enjoy a comfortable and quiet beautiful dinner go at opening at 5 pm before they get busy at 7 and its your own private restaurant.

My third time at A Voce. After two salty and expensive meals, decided to give it one more try.We sat in the lounge. We were not offered the "restaurant Week" option, which was in effect but not known to us- which is significantly less expensive, but were directed to the main menu. My friend ordered wine- three glasses of red wine,... More

Business dinner that exceeded expectations. Was not terribly busy for a cold Tuesday night, but service was wonderful and enjoyed the atmosphere as I didn't feel like everyone sitting on top of each other. Food was delicious and enjoyed chef's menu.

We ordered 1 foccacia, 1 tuna salad and 1 teeny portion of ravioli NO DRINKS just water as we were shopping at lunch time $90.... Ridiculous. However, the food was quiet tasty and the restaurant was spotlessly clean too.

Why this place is not teeming with customers is puzzling. The food, like its uptown sister, is excellent. The homemade pasta is one always standout. Meat dishes are good too, particularly the lamb and veal. This is they rare restaurant where one can have a conversation without loud music playing, receive good service and dine in a nicely decorated contemporary... More

On a business trip to speak at a conference, and stopped by here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and we were not disappointed. Myself and a business associate ordered the heirloom beet salad which was fresh and quite tasty. We followed that with a couple very good pasta entrees and followed with the halibut and pork loin main... More

Description
The word is out: Marlon Abela, the restaurateur behind London's Michelin one-star with two-stars rising Greenhouse, has opened a new modern Italian restaurant A Voce ("word of mouth") on the edge of chic Madison Square Park. The emphasis is on grown-up, deeply delicious Italian cookery set against a back drop of Italian style and organic East Coast elements.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
