Leisurely dinner with wonderful wine selection. Only complaint was they switched servers on us in the middle of dinner and new server was not as attentive. to say the least. Had to ask what happened to our order after 50 minutes. Menu says to plan on 30 for prep and we were ok with that. Never know how to handle... More

Last night I had planned on meeting a business associate for dinner, but did not have the time in advance to plan the location. In doing a quick search, i found the Kellari Tavera (close to his hotel). All I can say is that this place GREATLY EXCEEDED my expectations, not only with the fresh seafood, but the wonderful, very... More

Sometimes I forget that Greek food is more that dolmades and moussaka, especially when that's what you get in a Greek restaurant outside of Greece. But fish is a staple in a country surrounded by the sea and this restaurant reminds you of this splendidly. The decor is lovely. Our waiter was knowledgable and pleasant. He brought fish to the... We stopped in after a Broadway concert in Bryant Park. We frequent Kellari because of its decor and location near Grand Central, Bryant Park and the Theater District. As usual, everything was as expected. Our bartender was on point and checked on us enough to be helpful and not intrusive. They usually have something on the bar to munch on.... More

What a delight this predominantly Greek restaurant proved to be, and a total study in contrast to the utterly miserable dinner experience we had just fled from at Tavern-on-the-Green (avoid TOTG place, nowadays, its become a tourist trap). In fact, our TOTG experience was so poor, we skipped coffee and dessert and went in search of a better place, which... More

Hi, my husband and I were recently in NYC and a friend recommended this place. It was great! It is a Greek restaurant that specializes in seafood. They have the fresh fish of the day laid out on ice and you can pick your fish. They had some fish you don't see frequently such as scorpion fish. We had oysters... More

We needed to eat dinner after the theater and had a hard time finding a place still open! Our dinner was good. Two things were outstanding though: the fresh grilled fish and the service.

Gorgeous restaurant, food is really tasty, good quality and serves are very generous. The mezza platter was yummy as were the sardines! Mains consisted of shrimp salad and kebabs really tasty. Finished with a Greek coffee. What more could one ask for. Def worth a visit!

We ate there tonight as a group of four with reservations for 530PM since we were going to see Cirque at the Lyric at 7PM. We let the host know we had show reservations and things moved on in a timely basis thereafter. We sat down in the theatre about 10 minutes before the show started. Although this is a... More

Splendid restaurant with true Greek cuisine in a beautiful and well preserved atmosphere that brings you to the best Greek restaurant I've been outside of Greece (it's actually better than many restaurants in Greece). I enjoyed a nice lunch menu, with unlimited bloody mary (nice change!) and possibly the best fried calamari I've even eaten. Afterwards lobster ravioli were superb.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
