Pros: - creative, contemporary Japanese food of high quality - professional service - stylish location Cons: - pricey - very loud and freezing cold (not the ideal place for a cosy private dinner)

Our family of 7 (3 grand parents, 2 adults and 2 children) had a fantastic lunch at Morimoto. Great and fantastic appetizers (gyosas and shrimp tempura are a "must") complement very tasty and diverse sushi rolls. Please consider that this place is mostly aimed for adults since there are no real food alternatives for kids.

You've seen him on TV and now you can dine in his restaurant in NYC, the capital of the world! My first time there, so going on Yelp! it seems that most would go for the omakase. Service was excellent where the staff would explain how the food was prepared, though honestly, it all sounds fancy to me! Staff offered... More

This was probably my fourth time at Morimoto and it is still one of my favorite places in NYC. All their food options are always delicious, and their drink menu is also outstanding. Their Lychee martini is a must. If you have doubts on what to order, just ask your waiter for suggestions...their staff is always very helpful. If you... More

One of the most exciting Japanese restaurants I have ever been to. The décor, the trendy buzz, even the toilets provoke curiosity – who is the designer ? Sushi and sashimi were fine, but where this place stands out is in the innovative fusion cuisine created by Morimoto himself. We tried the angry chicken – fabulous, just the right balance... More

We were lucky to be in NY for NY Restaurant Week. Went to Morimoto and was blown away by the great food, ambiance and service. The black cod miso and the chocolate lava cake with salted caramel ice cream dessert were amazing. Morimoto did not hold back with the $29.99 Restaurant Week offering. (We noticed that other restaurants did not... More

It is a visual delight. The atmosphere was beautiful and zen even and even though it was busy, the place felt private and quiet. The plating of the food was creative and beautiful. The food is high quality and original.

First visit to Morimoto on the way to the High Line - too close to bypass if you're a sushi fan even if aware of Morimotos reputation for the high prices that accompany it's sushi. Even arriving early on Wed afternoon, watched the restaurant quickly fill-up hence reservations might be advised for parties of more that two. The interior is... More

Wished we had sat at the sushi bar but it was too late before we realized it was an option. I had Angry Chicken which was delicious. We also ordered two tuna rolls but honestly they were nothing interesting. Have had better locally. Probably would not revisit. Bathrooms and downstairs bar are both gorgeous.

First time at Morimoto and we went with the omakase option. The sashimi and sushi were terrific - creatively prepared and presented and simply delicious. The only disappointment was the surf & turf course - the steak and lobster did not compare to the other courses.
