I still love Morimoto but it feels different since the pandemic. Our favourite bar manager Daniel pisn’t there. Many of us came to Morimoto just because of him. They still gave us a wonderful welcome and we are very grateful. In terms of the food...Morimoto has competition. We had sushi at Novikov today and I dare say it was better. Some of our favourite dishes taste ever so slightly different and the menu has been simplified. Morimoto you had a winning formula pre-pandemic and a winning team. I hope you can get him back.More

Incredible cuisine. Funny tables making table service awkward. Very very loud table next to us. Staff was apologetic. Delicious cocktails in bar downstairs while we waited to be seated. Very personable bartender.

Extremely overpriced for average sushi. $50 for a small platter (Chef's Sushi Combination) that tastes worse than I've had for a cheap dozen. Spicy King Crab was decent but for the price would've expected unshelled. Slow service. The interior is nice but that's all you're...really paying for.More

My husband & I had a very good dinner here on a recent Saturday evening. Made the rez online which was quick & easy. Our table wasn't ready so we ordered a drink at the downstairs bar. The bartender was lovely & made delicious drinks....We were then seated to out table upstairs in a small area off to the side, not the main dining room. Because of this I think is why we weren't given great service which is why the 4 star review. The waiter was good & so was the support staff but not great and at these prices, should be great. Food was delicious & came at a good pace, but some other aspects were lacking like empty water glasses until we asked to refill, cocktails came slowly, plates not cleared, long wait to get our check and couldn't see waiter to ask. Otherwise, it was a perfectly lovely evening, but probably wouldn't be going back.More

The nyc restaurant week menu is a joke. You could get a better chicken yakitori on any chicken kebab stand in the city, then the sushi combo is six pieces of their sub par sushi except the tuna one and the dessert is a regular...yogurt parfait. At $42 this is a rip offMore

We had dinner there in December 2019 for 4 people. Restaurant is in a good location next to Chelsea Market. Service was good overall but it took quite a bit of time for the food to arrive. I had the seafood toban yaki and it...was absolutely delicious, enjoyed every mouthful thoroughly. I also had the kawaii cocktail and it was OK - nothing extraordinary. Elegant atmosphere, very comfortable chairs. Generally it's quite an open, airy space - really a bonus for people like me who feel a bit strange in crammed spaces with low ceilings and stuff like that. Cloakroom available.More

Elegant restaurant in a very nice location adjacent to the Chelsea market, even if the atmosphere is little bit cold and ‘aseptic’ We had good sushi and jap/fusion food, but service was disappointing and not accurate Considering this is one of the best restaurants in...Chelsea I frankly expected something moreMore

Amazing experience! The food is a real piece of art in both taste and serving. Fresh, tasty, innovative. The restaurant itself looks modern, and the prices are higher range- but reasonable for the amazing food they serve.

This was the first time I had been to New York, I was travelling with a friend who surprised me with a reservation to Morimoto for my Birthday. We both love Japanese cuisine, so needless to say I was beyond excited when I realized we...were going to the Iron Chef’s restaurant. We decided to go all out and do the 8 course meal with sake pairing. (Honestly, I regret not doing the 10.) Literally everything I ate superseded any expectations I had. There was a mushroom uni soup that I do not even have words to describe. That being said, I loved every course, I had the steak and it was exceptional. Our server was amazing, he explained everything to us and was really friendly, he even gave us some really great suggestions about where to get an after dinner night cap. The restaurant even did a little something special for my last course. We were dressed up, but can see that other guests attire ranged from casual to dressy. The restaurant decore is quite pleasant, with a really interesting ceiling and cool feature wall made of glass bottles. This is an amazing “treat yourself” place, I would recommend it to anyone. If given this chance again, I would come back here in a heartbeat.More

My partner and I recently had reservations at Morimoto and we planned to try the eight course omakase tasting menu paired with sake. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were quickly whisked off to our table and we were immediately impressed by the decor...and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Clearly a lot of thought went into the design. The service was prompt and extremely courteous. The time from when we arrived to when our first course arrived was very reasonable and we wasted no time in digging in. It is actually hard to decide on which was my favourite course as everyone of them was prepared with such care as to meld the presentation, the texture and the flavour into a perfect harmony in your mouth with each and every bite. The sake that came with each course was also thoughtfully chosen and blended so perfectly with the food as to create a little piece of heaven in each bite. From start to finish we were blown away by the food, the sake, and the service. As a special treat, as it was my partner's birthday, they brought out a special dessert with a candle and a chocolate decorated with Happy Birthday. It was a very nice touch. It is very hard to describe just how good this experience was and I can't think of anything that this restaurant needs to improve. Our only disappointment is that we didn't choose the ten course menu! If 10 circles were an option, I would give 10 out of 10 to Morimoto in NYC. Please do yourself a favour and try this place out. I assure you that you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back on our next visit to NYC.More
