This place gets it right on many levels - rolls, correct amount of meat, very distressed interior - just like the steak joints in PA. Food quality was horrible. Meat was tasteless, not enough onions or cheese. I will not be back.

One of the food must haves on visting NYC for our daughter was to try a traditional Philly Cheesteak. Feeling hungry we looked up the best places to eat one near to our location at the time in the East Village. 99 Miiles to Philly came up as one of the best and a short subway rideaway so over we... We go to 99 Miles to Philly every week or two, and it's a great cheesesteak. The bread is top notch. Waffle fries are very good too. Limited menu, but when you want a cheesesteak, this is a great place to go.

I had to try a Cheesesteak sandwich while in NYC. This place was a 5 min. walk from my hotel. I got there as they were opening for lunch. I had a beautiful cheesesteak, full of meat and cheese, oozing and sloppy, greasy in the best way possible. Nice little place. Very good cheesesteaks. Good prices, great value. Loved it!

First, Wyndham Midtown 45 visitors should go here...open 7 days a week and deliciously good value for your money in NYC! The cook and help is excellent. We rarely give "excellent" ratings, but this place gets one. Great food, great customer service. The owner of this place needs to "buck up" and give it some lighting and pizzaz. We had... More

The place was clean, quick, and very friendly. The sandwhich was larger than I expected (probably a full foot) and they stuff it full of goodness. The criscut fries were deliciously crispy. They will give you a ton of napkins and handwipes to use while you eat. You'll need them. I put the hot peppers on my sandwhich and they... More

I think Philly should start watching there backs 99 miles is that good if not better and you'll get that great NEW YORK service all sandwiches made to order anyway you want. So with gas prices the way they are and with 99 miles the Philly right in the neighborhood so stay local and enjoy the great cheese steak sandwiches.

Delicious cheesesteaks to stay or go. Build it yourself...choice of cheeses, with or without onions. You are the boss. Eat and enjoy. Favorite of neighborhood students and police trainees from the nearby academy.

I'm British, and Ive never been to Philly, so I know nothing of what a Philly cheesesteak is meant to be like. However, I know what I like and this is it. I had a cheesesteak with provolone cheese, and waffle fries. Man it was gooood! You don't really get things like that over here and it's inspired me to... More

Stop in frequently between meetings The staff is attentive and very kind The menu printed at the register Allows for choice of meat, cheese and toppings The waffle fries are awesome Choice of drinks completes the experience They only accept cash with an ATM next to the register Parking can be a challenge Well worth the trip

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
