I was neither under or overwhelmed.... Not sure how to review this restaurant. It was "good" but a little over priced for what it is really.

Good food in general. Scallops starter v nice. Also sea urchin pasta was excellent. I was offered different cooking options for my salmon main course and chose medium which was described as just cooked through with no pink. It came virtually raw in the middle. Nothing wrong with that, but not what I wanted. I should have sent it back... More

Empty when we arrived, but the hostess "stacked" every arrival next to us (which was at the rear next to the open seafood/kitchen area.

We have eaten at 40 restaurants in New York and this is the best yet. The food which was authentic European Italian was tasty and well presented. The service was efficient and friendly. What marks Gusto out from other restaurants is the details: Our water and wine glasses were topped up frequently yet unobtrusively. Our dessert was 'on the house'... More

My husband and I had brunch at Gusto this past weekend and it was excellent! We ordered from the prix fixe menu where you get an appetizer, entree, and an hour of unlimited breakfast cocktails for $22. Such a great deal! The food was wonderful, service was great, and the restaurant itself is beautiful!

I'd never have imagined such a nice restaurant on Greenwich Avenue below 14th Street, but this one is a great little find. Not only do their excellent bartenders know how to make lesser known drinks like a Salzerac, but the food is really top notch for any neighborhood. I was told the chef trained with Mario Batali, and after tasting... More

Had dinner this evening in a group of seven. Across the board the appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts were competent, though none worth going out of your way for. That said, the waitstaff were welcoming and helpful, and the bartender poured a mean Negroni, substituting Punt y Mes for the usual vermouth, as requested. All in all, a competent,... More

This is a smallish restaurant. Well appointed. I was surprised that it wasn't real busy on a Saturday night. We rarely order pasta when we go out, but this night it was baby octopus, lasagna and orichette with sausage and rapini. Classic sicilian with a bottle of Mirabile Menfri brought the bill to $120 plus tip. Friendly hostess, good food,... More

I give this restaurant an average rating because as we sat outside, the sidewalk was tilted under our table to the point that everything spilled out of our glasses and we felt like we were teetering on the edge of a cliff. Seriously? If the owners would focus more on a good dining experience rather than trying to serve as... More

Gusto opened with much fanfare and celebs showed up. This was 3 yrs ago...The allure has been lost. The place is empty despite efforts to draw people in with happy hour specials. Food is OK to good and the early days of liver in bolognese I think has changed but Gusto is lacking gusto.

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
