Went with a large group for lunch. The staff was very accommodating, patient and helpful. The empanadas are delicious as are the chuletas, the rice and beans (both red and black), the pernil and the shrimp. The beef (bistec encebollado) was incredible. I will go back!

La Fonda hits all the right notes. Cozy indoors with fantastic art by local, Puerto Rican and Spanish artists. (plus a covered outdoor backyard area great for parties). The menu is fabulous! Beloved Puerto Rican dishes with variations for diners' eating preferences (chicken, steak, pork, vegetarian) -- both full entrees, entree salads and tapas. The mofungo is fantastic! The service was wonderful. They also have special music and other entertainment that we may learn about on IG. I'll be back soon!

This place is as typically Boricua as you can get. Food is great, drinks are too, and the service & ambiance are just what I’d expect from any local bar in Old SJ, for comparison. If you don’t like that, go look elsewhere! I felt right at home. A small warning for islanders coming for a visit, however: some of the more traditional dishes have some choice substitutions made, to work around availability, I suspect. Not to worry: they’re still just as tasty.

Beware, coming from Puerto Rico on vacation and looking for authentic Puerto Rican food, I found this restaurant through Google (Comida Criolla), restaurant was decorated with some PR culture and music but unfortunately, the food was no where near authentic Puerto Rican food at all. I can literally cook better than what they serve. The food lacked the Puertorrican seasoning and flavor. Pork Chops were over fried. Only Puerto Ricans would understand my critic.

Delicious Puerto Rican cuisine including pernil, tostones and arroz con gandules. Ambiente was casual and friendly, service efficient. We have been to PR many times this is as good as any food on the island.

Many of the dishes on the menu were not available when we went. The music was turned up so loud at times we couldn't hear ourselves. Also, our server was not wearing a mask and got really close to me, invading my space even for a non-Covid world. He also touched my phone, and I felt for a second he was trying to give me Covid. I started having symptoms a couple of days later.

4 of us ordered dinner, 3 were served and the other was told they were out of chicken! The rest of us ate and still no dinner for her! Finally she gets her food and we asked them to box it up since the rest of us were leaving. Another 10 minutes! Food was tasty but not closely worth the horrible service. I complained and the waitress blamed the the waiter! What a joke. At no time did they try to make it better

I have been here several times over the last few years. The food has really gotten very good. But there is a caveat, The service sucks. The help is overwhelmed. Two young ladies are sitting people, taking the orders, bringing the food, giving the check, and then cleaning the table. Two people to handle the restaurant and bar. The restaurant seats about 35 people approx. and a bar of about 12. this is handled by two people. Again let me reiterate the food is very good. But the waiting for service and the tension of the waiters is too much. The owner has to step up and increase the staff.

I support local businesses throughout the US. The food here is top notch, but what really stands out is the experience and warmth provided by the special people who work here. They’ll treat you like family.

Right in Spanish Harlem. I've been here a few times and I must say each time was worth it. Aside from the great food, the service was wonderful. Good music, good vibes and great Puerto Rican food. They serve it all. From chuletas to mofongo to pernil, it's ALL GOOD. If you have not been here yet, please make plans to do so. You will not regret it!! Saludos
