Ive eaten twice here. The decor is stunning. Service has been good. It's too bad that the food is so average. Tonight we had Kobe beef potstickers which were buttery and excellent. The hamachi ponzu was not fresh although the presentation was nice. The spicy calamari salad was aggressively overbearingly hot and cauterize my taste buds. The sparkling rose was... More

Lovely restaurant, just across Bryant park, serving excellent sushi. The place has a nice atmosphere and makes you feel welcome. The service was implacable, quick, warm and professional, not trying to push you to order more. The fish were fresh and the sushi and sashimi were tasteful, although not cheap. Since the food was good and fresh we ate a lot... More

Koi is a beautiful restaurant with a great vibe. We didn't have reservations, but had no problem getting a table on a weeknight. We enjoyed everything we had. The miso soup was good and the potstickers too. The calamari salad was okay. The tiger prawns were sensational and the sunfire roll was great. Service was good, but we did have... More

the atmosphere in this Koi is pure kinetic energy. The energy can be felt in the food, the customers , the employees and even in the drinks. I left feeling like I wanted to go and do something constructive, not because of a high intake of calories but from a high intake of energy.

We were able to get a last minute late dinner reservation at Koi after flying in from the West Coast that night. The interior is trendy and modern. We liked the flexibility in the menu since you can either share a number of small plates or order your own entree, or both. The sushi was very fresh and the offerings... More

The food and service are great in the this busy Japanese restaurant and the atmosphere gives it a lively buzz. The menu is varied and the beer and wine list were also good. I would definitely come back when I am in town next.

We have been to Koi several times before and enjoyed the experience every time except for this latest visit. The menu had changed and it was less vegetarian friendly but still a varied Japanese inspired selection. Problem was the quality of the food has dropped. The edamame was bland and served without salt. We added salt just to perk it... More

It's hard to rate between three and four stars because this is a very nice restaurant. It is beautiful and the food is delicious, it was a real life saver at the end of our travel day to be able to be quickly seated and get great food quickly. The prices are high, but the rolls are fairly large. Our... More

We have been to Koi many times before and always had a wonderful experience. This time, however, we had a very rude waitress with attitude and a bad table. Also, we were rushed through the meal. Ordered sake, which we did not get. Soup was served, before we even ordered the rest of the dishes. There is a huge difference... More

Description
Rich earth tones of orange, red and brown impart warmth to the cool and tranquil space. Thin tapestries of translucent rose fabric are embellished with flame motifs and suspended from the ceiling, creating a separate seating area perfect for a light bite near the large front windows. Famous for its unique and mouth-watering interpretation of Japanese cuisine. Upscale Japanese fare is given a jolt of new life through an innovative use of ingredients, resulting in refreshing and exciting flavor combinations. Crispy Rice with Spice Tuna, an addictive version of the classic spicy tuna roll, featuring warm grilled rice topped with a thick layer of cool, savory tuna. Baked Crab Roll, for which succulent fresh crab meat is wrapped in a thin rice paper dotted with sesame seeds and baked to perfection. Hamachi Fusion with Soy-Citrus and Truffle Essence all artfully plated by Koi’s skilled culinary team.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
