This place is next door to Katz's deli -- but seemed to have much more of a crowd than Katz's. They have an awesome selection of original flavors -- such as Corn and Avocado gelato. They also have a large selection of Sorbets. I loved their Lemon Ginger Sorbet. They also have some unusual flavors such as Thai Chili Chocolate... More

Fantastic flavors, and a VAST selection, this little shop makes you crave it, long after the last bite! This is one of the best gelatos you can get, outside of Europe! Well done!!

In Europe, the gelateria will usually promote the use of fresh ingredients and flavors derived from local produce. At the Laboratorio, you will also get fresh gelato, but you will also be able to try many flavors that you would not normally find elsewhere, such as yuzu, champagne, and blood orange. The staff is always friendly and patient as guests... More

A favorite place to visit, this place has a wide variety of unique and standard gelato flavors. Everything is delicious, tastes as advertised, and has a wonderful texture. More recently we had the tarragon, basil, and taro. Highly recommend for a visit!

Imaginative flavors and delicious ice creams. No cones but two generous scoops per portion, in a dish. I love their passion fruit ice cream. A treat that's worth the calorie splurge!

On the corner of E Houston and Ludlow this is a great experience. A huge range of flavours (spelled correctly you notice) of ice cream and sorbets at good prices. A ticket queuing system at busy times make it simple, but the problem we had was trying to choose from amongst the range.

Situated opposite Katz Deli, it looks very clinical and simple. But the gelato is awesome, and they have the classics as well as some very creative flavours.

Busy at times so there is hardly any seating space. The flavours are unique and are not standard ice cream flavours. Recommended to visit.

Very good gelato - many choices but no menu (except online) and while there is a 'take-a-number system' it isn't used (at least in the two times I went there). It's a free-for-all but worth it when you catch the eye of a server. Price is right.

After a massive walk and a pastrami sandwich in Katz deli next door , dessert was taken in this ice cream shop. Spoilt for choice, but I settled for watermelon and kiwi sorbet and it was so refreshing and 100% gorgeous. I didn't speak until I had finished! Good portions, 2 scoops is more than enough. You can eat it... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
