5 of us met up at the bar at S&W prior to our reservation. They make the best cocktails... Cosmos and Lemon Drop Martinis! The place was packed as we were seated and our service throughout was a bit slow. We each had the filet...More

We visited the place for a late dinner on Monday night - the restaurant was still crowded and as busy as other places are on Friday nights. This alone should attest to the high regards this place is held in. Despite the advanced reservation we...More

With competition rising in the category of excellent strak houses unfortunately S&W is not keeping up. Having not been at this old institution in NYC for years it feels as the place is betting on this history and not on the current performance of the...More

Food was nice, not fabulous, service was good but I think it is a bit overpriced compared to other N.Y. steakhouses.

Arrogant, nasty maitre d's, especially "Jeff". There are a lot of very good steakhouses in Manhattan, so go elsewhere. Food satisfactory, nothing more. In particular, avoid weekends and holidays where large parties and screaming children can cause bedlam. To top it off, they don't adequately...More

I know that my opinion probably goes against the vast majority of others, but I get the feeling that the restaurant is living by its name, rather than by the quality of the food and service. The food is ok, but nothing more, average but...More

Filet mignons served with fat and gristle. Seated next to waiters' station. Did not enjoy seated location given the plethora of empty tables when we arrived and as we left.

Service and food was exceptional. Try the burger, wow! This place has been around forever. We ate in the grill around the corner. S&W is part of a larger restaurant group including my absolute favorites - Morelli and Procini, the exceptional Quality Meats and the...More

It's a classic and reliable address for good steaks. Very (too?) traditional ambience, maybe a bit loud. But the steaks are always great, as the sides. Not cheap, but worth the money.

One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since.

It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience.

The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors.

Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.
