We had a fun meal on Friday night...complete with horseradish vodka...surprisingly very yummy....the chicken Kiev was outstanding
We came back on Saturday night after the play we attended and had apple and cheese blintzes that were great and we were honored to listen to a...lovely lady sing Russian songs on the pianoMore
I recently had the pleasure of having after dinner drinks at the Russian Vodka Room. We were on a trip with friends who had stumbled upon it a few years ago. The atmosphere is quaint with live music. I was impressed with the amount of...patrons speaking Russian with the staff. It was honestly a highlight of my NYC trip.More
Great midtown spot for good Martinis. The happy hour deals are really good compared to similar places. I usually go for something that is not on a happy hour deal though.... and that is their version of the Dirty Martini (called Filthy Russian). It's one...of the best I have tasted. The service is good and it's specialized in Vodka (DA!). Everyone speaks Russian.....More
Be sure to make reservations this is a popular spot. The vodka flights are fun and delicious. Just walk home!
The borscht is yummy. We like it hot. The beef meatballs are very good. Ask for Prince sauce.
Stroganoff is rich and good.
Desserts are...not their forte.
Service is very friendly and helpful.More
This place is a great throwback to the old 1960's New York bar. A three piece band combo will greet you as you enter this small, cozy, cluttered beauty of a bar. Your vodka selections are skillfully and generously poured by some genuine Russian bartenders...who are both friendly and efficient. Vodka galore, in every flavor...and reasonably priced. Check it out.More
Fun piano bar in general.
The dumplings were awesome - I'd come back just to eat more dumplings. The Persian mule was pretty good. The service was fast after initial drink and food order placement, but we couldn't get anyone to follow up for more...drinks or even to order more food. After a while, we decided to use all of our energy to get the bill paid and move to another restaurant.More
I have visited RVR for years and recently started noticing the quality going down every time I was there.
On Friday night was my last time and I was deeply disappointed. I ordered herring under the fur coat, potatoes with mushrooms and lamp leg. The...herring was OK, not as good as it used to be but nothing too bad.
The potatoes with mushrooms was not cooked to order, it was obviously cooked before and warmed up. This is unacceptable for a restaurant of this level. Not mentioning offensive to costumers.
The lamb leg was also precooked. It was a bit funny that it was served so quickly although I know very well that it takes time to make it. The vegetables were saggy and everything was in an unpleasant sauce of unknown origin.
I don't know reasons for this: maybe, new ownership? But I would strongly encourage the place to get their stuff together soon before it's too late.More
