China grill was ..in its day...the "go to" groovy spot. i.e...you can be sure the new USA prez has been here more than once ...back in the day.....if that helps... ...now....eh...a little worn.. a little touristy...and measured drinks in nyc??? sheesh... foods ok..you won't be unhappy...but you won't be thrilled ..

Very good food, very good service, very loud room although this was not my first visit and the volume did not deter me. I have always enjoyed the food which is a modern take on Chinese cuisine. My p0arty especially enjoyed the chicken skewers, vegetable and beef dish that we shared. The wait staff was helpful and attentive.

From the décor to the menu, China Grill is super funky. The veggie noodle box and shimeji mushroom are wonderful. The peking duck salad offers enough flavor that my family members, very picky- the only green foods they eat are M and M's and Skittles, ate and LOVED the duck salad.

Had a great meal at China Grill. The service was great and the food was better. The pork belly appetizer was out of this world. This is very high-end Asian cuisine with a great atmosphere great place for a business dinner. If you're looking for a place to order by number or your typical sweet-and-sour dishes this is not a... have eaten at the China Grill many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The more people the better so you can try as many dishes as possible. If you have never eaten at a China Grill you should . Well worth the visit.

Travelers will be warmly welcomed at the serene China Grill. We were foot sore after visiting MoMA across the street, and this restaurant was a perfect place to reflect and recharge. We headed to the bar area for the Bento boxes. You get 4 delicious small plates for under $20. Don't miss the crispy spinach and the salmon.

Excellent cocktails. Attentive service, lovely staff. Sampled several small plates: Lobster pancakes which were actually crepes rolled with lobster, mushrooms and a heavy cream sauce - very rich. Beef dumplings were quite salty. Don't miss the calamari salad - best of all our choices!!. Pork belly skewers were mostly fat - couldn't eat them despite a nice presentation. Steak was... More

Consistent, tasty, but haven't changed in 10 years... Maybe it is good but I find it turning into a chain restaurant.

The bento box lunch is one of the better lunch deals in midtown. Other highlights include crispy calamari salad and bananas is a box. It can get a little bit loud, but service is always good.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
