The food and the decor are beautiful, the staff all attentive, the taste and flavors didn't stand out. I was quite surprised I didn't enjoy the food as much as I'd hoped. I loved the pacing of the meal, nothing was rushed, we were able to enjoy our food and chatting, they substituted the complimentary hors d'oeuvre due to a... More

Lunch at the The Modern, at the posh end of three MOMA offerings, was the topper of a recent day trip to NYC. The menu was organized into Snacks, Appis, and Mains. Mains looked intriguing, but too much for lunch, so I ordered the tart flambée from the snack group and started to ask about several of the appis. The... More

An exquisite restaurant located in the Moma, probably with the kindest and most efficient waiters we have met in NYC. The portions are small but you just need to take the time to savor them. I was particularly impressed by the sundae desert with two infusions that were placed on top of the dish. Pricy, this restaurant is indeed. Do... More

We had a late lunch here this week. The service is friendly and impeccable, the food is excellent. The atmosphere is a bit sterile, but in keeping with the modern theme. Their menu got my white food syndrome granddaughter to try something more daring. We were a happy group.

I love every part of this museum. You can't see it all in just one visit - I wanted to go back again and again.

This was a lovely lunch with impeccable service - friendly, professional and with just the right amount of attentiveness. The dining room is a beautiful tranquil space looking out to MOMA's sculpture garden. For us the standout dishes were the poached egg amuse bouche, the king crab starter and the hamachi carpaccio. If we had to rate the food on... More

Ah, where to begin. I had dinner at The Modern last night with a friend and I'm still smiling. We had the three course menu and with the delicious breads, amazing amuse bouche and richly satisfying items --lobster potage, sautéed foie, and a portion of chicken in brioche so big we each took most of it home, we were in... Dining at The Modern was an experience like no other dining experience I've ever had. It's not difficult to see how they earned their Michelin stars. The food is fresh, flavorful, beautiful, and innovative. The service is seamlessly choreographed and the servers are more ambassadors and hosts than they are food servers. There were four of us in our group... More

We really enjoyed brunch at the Modern, next to the Museum of Modern Art. The service was excellent, knowledgable and welcoming. The food was innovative, delicious and fresh, although the portions are small. The atmosphere is lovely- serene and comfortable, a respite from the busy New York City streets. They also accept reservations on a Sunday which made it easier... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
