They have a four or eight course tasting menu in the formal dining room. Being as I was solo, ate in the "front" of the house in a large table setting along with a long well-stocked bar. Nice selection on the menu. Started with an excellent beef tartare; then had beets with pumpernickel pistachio vinaigrette; Main course was the pork.... More

During a recent business trip to NYC, I had a late lunch at The Modern, the restaurant affiliated with the Museum of Modern Art. As always, the food was sublime, the service exceptional, and the wine/spirits selection was as good as I ever see ( in NYC or elsewhere). I highly recommend The Modern.

I love Michelin star restaurant however sometimes they get a little too formal and stiff. The modern is not one of them, the ambiance is relaxed, not formal at all but very friendly. The staff is attentive, knowledge but totally non intrusive. The cuisine refined but not trying to add to many ingredient in the same dish. A two star... More

The service is amazing here. It is on the expensive side, but a wonderful experience. The whole place is comfortable, but if you're lucky you get to sit by the window looking into MoMA's courtyard while you peruse the incredible wine list. There's also a great bar area for something more casual.

let me start by saying that after reading other reviews I am surprised how many people mention the price at $208, Hospitality Included that's approximately $170 + $34 tip, now if you think you can have a dinning experience, and this is an experience, at a Michelin two star restaurant for less please feel free to hip me to it!... My husband and I had dinner in the dining room Friday night. From start to finish it was delightful. The vibe upon walking in was friendly and sophisticated. The staff tended to us with great care and detail, making us feel more like regulars than first-timers. From one course to the next and the fused "amuses" in between, we were... More

Out of 10 NYC restaurants studded with 2 Michelin stars, we have been to 2 (Marea, Atera, and Modern), and The Modern beats its competitors rather easily. We liked the European, tip-less style of dining, the tips are included and are not expected. There are two dining options, i.e. $158 for 4 courses (including dessert) or $208 for 8 courses.... More

I really did not expect a restaurant inside of the Museum to be as good as it was, it was perfect! The service was perfect, as was the food. Just some examples of it are: The waiter was very empathetic and coherent. As we wanted to order Champagne, after our pre-drink (I had Champagne) before bringing us a glass each,... More

My husband and I had dinner in the main dining room at The Modern this evening. Delicious food, creatively presented, well prepared. Impeccable attentive service, friendly without being overbearing. Pleasant ambience. We had the four-course prix fixe meal. I enjoyed the lettuce salad, the roasted cauliflower with king crab, the bone-on turbot with preserved meyer lemon slices, and a yummy... We were visiting MoMA and decided to head to the Modern to see if we could have a bite of lunch. What a great experience, staff are exceptional, food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. When the sommelier found out that I had worked int he wine industry in South Africa we were treated to a gorgeous SA desert wine... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
