Impressive location with inspiring and creative dishes. Really cool food, but the magic which should come with a second star is a little bit missing.

My husband brought me here for my birthday, and it was a wonderful selection. While I don't think this was the best meal I have had it was definitely towards the top. But beyond the fact that the food was excellent the service brings this restaurant to the next level. Perhaps this is because there is no tipping or perhaps... More

Our aunt was celebrating her 80th birthday and her family arranged dinner for 22 in a private room. The service was impeccable, the food exceptional, and the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful to our elderly relatives. The passed appetizers were outstanding and plentiful. There were lobster cakes, steak tartare, whitefish, eggplant, and prosciutto and pear. Our three course meal... More

This is a restaurant with first class food, with an American twist of course. The food is excellent, although very slightly clumsy at times. Excellent amuse bouche but difficult and messy to eat when bread to help arrived after it had been cleared. But it well earns its Michelin star. It is relaxed, clean, great tastes and a delightful way... More

They have a four or eight course tasting menu in the formal dining room. Being as I was solo, ate in the "front" of the house in a large table setting along with a long well-stocked bar. Nice selection on the menu. Started with an excellent beef tartare; then had beets with pumpernickel pistachio vinaigrette; Main course was the pork.... More

During a recent business trip to NYC, I had a late lunch at The Modern, the restaurant affiliated with the Museum of Modern Art. As always, the food was sublime, the service exceptional, and the wine/spirits selection was as good as I ever see ( in NYC or elsewhere). I highly recommend The Modern.

I love Michelin star restaurant however sometimes they get a little too formal and stiff. The modern is not one of them, the ambiance is relaxed, not formal at all but very friendly. The staff is attentive, knowledge but totally non intrusive. The cuisine refined but not trying to add to many ingredient in the same dish. A two star... More

The service is amazing here. It is on the expensive side, but a wonderful experience. The whole place is comfortable, but if you're lucky you get to sit by the window looking into MoMA's courtyard while you peruse the incredible wine list. There's also a great bar area for something more casual.

let me start by saying that after reading other reviews I am surprised how many people mention the price at $208, Hospitality Included that's approximately $170 + $34 tip, now if you think you can have a dinning experience, and this is an experience, at a Michelin two star restaurant for less please feel free to hip me to it!... My husband and I had dinner in the dining room Friday night. From start to finish it was delightful. The vibe upon walking in was friendly and sophisticated. The staff tended to us with great care and detail, making us feel more like regulars than first-timers. From one course to the next and the fused "amuses" in between, we were... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
