The service was outstanding but the food only average. Temperature of the duck seemed a bit low and the flavor profiles just didn’t impress as I thought they would. Pear dessert was a good ending to the meal.

The Kitchen Table is a can’t miss experience. We were front row to watch dinner service in a Michelin starred restaurant. The food was beautiful to look at and so incredibly delicious and the kitchen team were so sweet and kind introducing themselves, asking if...we had questions. Chef Thomas Allen and Chef de Cuisine Sarah Hsieh stopped by and visited with us several times throughout the evening. Service was impeccable and the wine recommendation was perfect. Such a fun way to celebrate my birthday.More

We had lunch and the fish plus the desert were excellent. The service was efficient and friendly. Later we learned that this was a Michelin-star restaurant and a tasting menu is available. However, we were very happy with our tasty and well-prepared lunch. The price...was reasonable too.More

Incredible! I trusted the tasting menu and tried foods outside my comfort zone and loved all of it. The decor is modern and beautiful. The service is impeccable. I would gladly go back.

The title sort of says it -- I really appreciated the service -- we were off to see Funny Girl (highly recommended) and they had the food come quickly But more importantly, the service was quite helpful without being condescending. Ad yes, I was being...tongue in cheek about the food -- it was excellent.More

My husband and I deserved something stylish after running into the all-too-typical debacle of canceled flights from abroad to get to New York. We were relieved just to be here, and we took advantage by strolling the gallery rooms and sculpture garden of the glorious...MoMA to prepare us for the low-hum cacophony of the Bar Room. It was the height of the lunch hour, and the percolating vibe was just what we were looking for as it felt like a meet-up scene on "Sex and the City". I'm probably more Charlotte than Carrie, while my husband has definite Miranda tendencies. But that was neither here nor there when it came to the three-course menu they offered here., except for our insatiable desire for cocktails. They were $19 each, but hey, this was midtown Manhattan after all. My husband went for the Espresso Martini which blended a cold brew with vodka, krogstad, and salt into a smooth jolt of caffeine. I opted for the Coconut, a comparatively potent mix of mezcal, campari, and vermouth di tortino. By this time, we may have turned the corner on becoming Samantha. Thankfully the complimentary bread arrived quickly, not a basket but a giant pretzel-like roll freshly baked and easily separable with creme fraiche butter on the side that immediately melted upon impact with the warm dough. Our appetizers were next. My husband ordered the Steak Tartare which was brightly presented and perfectly ground with a layer of creamy potatoes poured over it. Ironically it came with a separate plate of Crispy Potatoes, actually three large, unpeeled slices that looked like they were flash-fried. So it was a somewhat esoteric take on meat and potatoes. Our other starter was the Hamachi with Sour Melon and Shiso prepared sashimi style and mixed with a fruit oil that made each bite melt. We expected our entrees next, but the server mistakenly served us our dessert. When I pointed out his oversight, he was understandably embarrassed, but in a flash, I think I showed my inner Miranda. My husband ordered the Scallops with Summer Squash and Olive for his entree, and it was genuinely delicious with a dipping sauce that was close to Russian dressing. I went for the Foie Gras Stuffed Chicken with Endive and Meyer Lemon, a succulent piece of poultry slathered with the duck liver under the crisped skin and the endive a nice textural contrast. The dessert was not included in the $45 two-course price, but of course we indulged by each ordering the $16 Milk and Chocolate with Candied Pecans, canelas of fluffy mousse quite decadent. It was a smart, satisfying meal in a place to see and be seen. Should I buy a pair of Manolo Blahniks now?More

Went back for the first time after 2+ years, and truly enjoyed it. Price fixe lunch was fabulous, fresh, and full of fun surprises. We sat overlooking the sculpture garden, which is blissful by itself. And all of the staff were outstandingly smart and charming....Definitely a favorite of all time anywhere on the planet!More

Not as good as expected. We had set menu with wine pairings. Firstly wine was excellent. No course was particularly memorable, except the welcome snack. Food is very expensive with a lot of flavours going on. My seat had a tear in the fabric. Nice...to visit but unlikely to returnMore

Came here for a business lunch. Very crowded, hectic, the hostess was not nice, the portions were small, the food was just ok. I used to look this restaurant 5-6 years ago. But restaurants become popular and decline in quality.

Truly a one-of-a kind dining experience with an artistic flair. Very much a hidden gem nestled in the MoMA. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tête de cochon was exquisite, and so was the crispy salmon entrée. Will definitely be back again, and...would love to try the Modern’s actual tasting menu.More
