Over-priced for portion size, food was edible but barely average, service was incredibly slow. Went for breakfast because location was convenient. I've never seen this before, an omelette served with 1 1/2 pieces of toast. Both my wife and I had one whole piece of toast and one half piece.

Was in a major hurry and so we dropped by. The prices were similar to the other overpriced big names in NYC. The food was fine--not worth the price tag listed. BEWARE: be very specific to the waiter on what you're ordering and have them read it back. At Lindy's and Carnegies, our waiter gave us the "full plate dinner"... More

Ok. You have to take this in context. We found it very difficult to get a real breakfast in midtown. Lots of deli's and then the hotel restaurants with their $40 buffet. Lindy's is a plan restaurant where you can get a full breakfast for a decent price. Not hi in special but good.

We visited for breakfast, nice food although expensive ( this maybe just New York prices) inattentive staff who were quite abrupt. I would not visit again.

Went for dinner with the family. Be ready to pay for overpriced food, but nothing special. $23.+ for fish and chips...Reuben sandwich is $23.99 (dry). I understand that this in NYC, but there are a lot of restaurant in NYC that are well-known (if pricey, but it's worth it). I will be willing to pay a high price for food,... More

Stopped here as we saw this on bus tour. We picked up three slices to share, pumpkin, blueberry and original ny cheesecake. Delicious and creamy, great with coffee. Diner was clean, not much people but it was late night. Cashier and hostess very nice and helpful. Will definitely be back to try other cheesecake flavors next time in NYC.

I came here for some breakfast last week before work. I was grateful it was not too busy and the food came out right away. The menu is simple and not overwhelming. I had the Belgian waffle which was delicious. I had ordered egg whites, but was brought out regular eggs, but I did not fuss about it. My friend... More

This restaurant was right across from the Sheraton Hotel where we stayed, handy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of the servers were short on conversation but the gentleman in the picture made our visits so special his attention to detail and friendly manner made eating their a pleasure. The food is good but the cheese cake is Excellent ........ More

Go for the cheesecake! Best in NYC. The cheesecake is baked. and has a cake crust versus a graham cracker crust. I've been coming to Lindy's for 9 years. And you're right, don't go for the service. But don't ruin it for yourself - look past it. Go for the cheesecake experience! It's worth it.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
