Well established gay bar. Good for a few cold refreshing drinks. Bar staff friendly. Music easy listening and upbeat. Typical sort of friendly gay bar.

I love the Monster! It is so unpretentious and welcoming, which is rare in the Village these days. I love the piano player and folks singing songs from musicals. You could be in Des Moines, Paris, Cleveland, Tokyo - it's so timeless and classic!

I went with my partner to this club for first time on a Thursday night. It was in an underground floor a little crowded. There were many strippers. Some were friendly others not so engaging. They all invite you to have a private for a...More

I've been coming to the Monster in Greenwich Village since the early 1980s when it was 1/3 the size it is today. The piano faced the entrance, then, and there was the bar across from the piano. I remember meeting friends there every Wednesday night...More

My friend and I were checking out the Stonewall Monument and noticed this bar. So later that night we returned for a drink and ended up watching a drag show (on a Monday!). We had such a great time. This place is really cool; two...More

I've been to Monster many times over the course of the last 8 years or so, and it always has a friendly crowd. The upstairs is a bit small and can become crowded, while downstairs is a bit larger. They do not take credit cards...More

We visited this bar whilst on a night out in the village. The drinks were reasonably priced for New York $8 for a gin and tonic, which is okay. The piano bar was very busy with locals and tourists alike. Downstairs there was a drag...More

Stopped in for a drink on the way back to Penn Station. Friendly staff, snacks at happy hour, affordable drinks. Would stop in again.

I visited Monster in August last year and made a lot of new friends from one visit. Awesome venue, music and friendly staff. The drinks are reasonably priced too. Handy to Stonewall pub and park which are just over the road.

Supposed to be one of the most famous gay bars in NYC; would more likely herald it as the rudest bar in NYC. Went in and got served at the bar straight away but wish we hadn’t bothered, as immediately cliques of people were judging...More
