Don't miss this bar in the heart of the gay west village. Super friendly locals and, truly, the nicest, most inviting staff in NYC. Absolutely bereft of attitude. Great after-work crowd and bonus points if you're excited by greasy, grilled/fried comfort food as they have...a small ready-and-willing cook and kitchen. Danny and the other bartenders, doormen and cook are all beyond welcoming. Julius' is the adult drink destination you'll be anticipating as you unpack your suitcase in the hotel room or traveling on the subway or in the cab after the workday. Relaxed, inviting, and friendly.More

Who knew that a tiny kitchen in a gay bar would have one of the best burgers I've ever had! Went here to meet friends while in NYC for a drink. The bartender was amazing, friendly and made amazing drinks. We were hungry and saw...that they served food and ordered a burger, fries and onion rings. Oh my god, the burger was amazing. It was a basic cheeseburger with onions, lettuce and tomato but usually the basics are better. The fries were amazing and seasoned well. I wish I took a picture but it was so good it was gone in a few minutes. Definitely worth a stop by if in the area.More

We wandered into Julius because we had heard it was the oldest gay bar in the city and the home of the historic Sip-In. This was on Thursday of World Pride Weekend. There were lots of visitors and yet the bartender, Danny, made us all...feel like regulars! We loved it and went back multiple times that weekend, it is a great price with great drinks and great prices (for the City) and, if you are lucky enough to run into Danny, you are guaranteed to be treated like a regular. Oh, they are also the home of the $6.00 thick and juicy burger - don't miss it.More

This is a very old fashioned bar, once a gay bar when the Village was gay, with a small kitchen which serves the very best burgers as well as grilled sandwiches, hot dogs, and delicious fries. They open only at 4pm. AAtmosphere is in the...rough, and pretty inexpensive but the food-limited though the menu is- is delicious. Drinks arepurchased direct from the bar and are inexpensive. Whatever coffee they use is delicious. The cook and staff are very friendly and welcoming all comers although at any moment the core clientele are regulars from Manhattan.More

Julius was recommended to us by a nice couple we met at a random bar stop in Chelsea. We were in town for the weekend and specifically wanting to include some of the gay bar scene into our trip and this did not disappoint! Great...dive bar atmosphere, friendly staff and guests, more mature crowd (read: I am too old for thumping loud clubs) and the burgers and fries - OMG - fantastic. Prices were shockingly low and quality was high. Apparently they used to give female patrons a tiara to wear when they came in. I didn’t get one but I still felt like a queen :)More

I was in the village for an appointment and it was a beautiful fall day. I wanted to see some boys and have a light supper. So Julius came to mind as I remembered from years ago they serve hamburgers ! The burger was perfect...The draft beer excellent And a great mix of young and mature men to enjoy. I am so glad I rediscovered a gay New York staple !More

Julius is an old village hangout famous for its burgers, its atmosphere and its history. The bar/restaurant is featured in a 2014 movie, "Love is Strange" as well as being known as an historic venue for the gay and lesbian community. Burgers are cheap and...excellent and the place has a feeling that I can't put into words. It's definitely worth a visit for all the reasons mentioned above.More
