Great soups

If you are in NY, find this place and enjoy shopping in the supermarket and eat at the Cafe. Soups are made fresh and are excellent. Smoked salmon and a bagel are the best you can get in the city. Coffee is always fresh, What more do you need...

I just attended a most delightful birthday at this location. The room was private but large enough for the children to move around....4 year olds. The staff was exceptional: friendly, professional and very patient. The adults were well cared for with coffee, tea and soft drinks and a light buffet and the children with a "kid" menu and cupcakes. And... More

I'm not sure why anyone would eat here twice. An average at best meal with bad service and when the check comes, well just be ready! Insane prices. A complete dissapointment.

I brought my 2 teenage nieces for breakfast. Although the bread basket was excellent and the pancakes were good, I somehow expected more from Eli Zabar. Perhaps my disappointment was that the space is so cold in decor. The service was fine, but this is not a place I would return to.

I used to go to Eli's all the time when I worked in the neighborhood. You can always find great sandwiches, meals, cheese......A very safe bet for all food needs / wants.

Great Food Market, wonderful, fish, meats and all thing good to eat. About the best smoked salmon around, cut to order from various salmons. Good Fruits and Veg and wonderful Breads, pastries and prepared foods.

I was exploring areas nearby and accidentally walked into this place. At first glance it appeared as an interesting find (and I did not know at the time of Eli’s various stores). But after closer examination I just saw overpriced breads and grocery with unimpressive service.

The Vinegar Factory is really an old factory on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. There is something very unique about this charming and well-stocked store. You can get all the fixings that you need for the essential New York Style breakfast, lunch or dinner OR you can sit in the delightful some restaurant amongst the homemade soups, OUTSTANDING baked... Perhaps the most unnecessarily overpriced grocery and bakery on the upper east side. Eli Zabar (of the west side deli family) open a bakery, grocery, and cafe to fill a need that has been more than fulfilled. We now have Whole Foods, Fairway, and Eric Kayser. Best of all, we have Costco at 116th Street that sells Eli's bread for... More

If you get a buzz from just looking at great food, then put Eli's Vinegar Factory on your must-do list. You'll see a huge selection of bread, pastries, cheese, olives, coffee, oil, vinegar, and other products, some local and many from Europe. The store also offers a wide array of take-out foods, all of gourmet quality. Everything is beautifully set... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
