If you find yourself in the area, and are craving authentic Italian food, Frank's is the place to go! Although I have been ordering in for years (and still do, at least twice a month), I finally went to dine in, and what a surprise! The back room reminded me of the Italian restaurant I used to go to with... More

Recently, I ate a large Family meal at this restaurant. From the outside it looks like a regular pizzeria. However, the restaurant not only was helpful clean and quick, but was also delicious. I would personally suggest lasagna and the eggplant Parmesan. It was crispy and cheesy and delicious. Their desserts are also good to it was crispy and cheesy... More

We took some Italian friends to Frank's for dinner. From the front it looks like a typical pizzeria, but the dining room in the back is great. Service is great. Food is wonderful. We had shrimp scampi (which was outstanding) and manicotti (also outstanding). Our friends who are true Italian cooks pronounced the food among the best they had ever... More

Took my granddaughter to NYC... one of the goals was to try a different pizza each day. GRIMALDI's in Brooklyn (near the Bridge) started out in first place and stayed there until our last day, when we went to Frank's Trattoria near Mt Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in the East Village. The crust was the hands-down winner and tied with... More

Was a little worried at first glance as you have to walk through the pizza joint to get to the dining room. Once we opened that door and the wonderful smells hit my nose I was very happy! The restaurant is very tiny which I like and the menu quite extensive. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive and we... More

It's the local pizzeria / Italian restaurant. It is basic but what makes New York, New York. Well done an a great place to go any time you want good food at a fair price.

I just don't eat here anymore. The food is not very good. I wouldn't recommend it. The last time I ate here, I ordered "sole", but ... it was not very good.

Frank’s Trattoria is located on 1st Ave near 21st street. This is a well run local neighborhood spot which serves Italian food all the way from pizzas (excellent) to lasagna (also excellent). The service was attentive and the prices were reasonable for NYC. This is a good choice if you are in the area. The nearest subway stop is 6... More

A friend who has lived in the neighbourhood for over 20 years discovered this place. We went and had a great meal. My dish of lobster, cod, calamari and mussels cost $20. I Ireland I would probably pay that for the cod and I'd have to take a mortgage out for the lobster. My wife had veal and enjoyed it.... More
