As always during my trips to Manhattan I spent some time at Murphy's Pub on Stone St. A couple of Guinness's and fish and chips and great conversation with Eamon the bartender.

Popped in two nights in a row. First time alone. Second time with coworkers. Brian was amazing. The Guinness was absolutely fresh and perfectly poured, and the prices made me happy. Could not have asked for a better spot to unwind, thanks Brian for taking such great care of us!

Went looking for a nice lunch with a hanker'n for pastrami and noticed it was on the menu outside, and pricing was reasonable. Our Server's name was "Jess", who turned out to be a gem. She was funny and attentive to our every need. The Pastrami Sandwich was a true bonus. Served very lean, and thinly sliced. Every bite left... More

Popped in for a quick drink after a day's sightseeing which coincided with Happy hour. $5 and $6 for draft and bottles and more sport on the TVs than you could hope for.

Located next to the Doubletree on Stone St in lower Manhattan - in the financial district and near Battery Park. A great place to have a pint or two and pub grub. Tends to bit a bit loud and congested at the end of the workday and early evenings with the happy hour and beyond crowd from the financial district.... More

Stopped in for a happy hour beer. Nothing happy about it. Bartender barely talked to us, music was oldies and very loud. Didn't expect all Irish music but at least something fun.

We had spent the day walking all over New York and we were ready for a nice quiet meal close to our hotel. We found Murphys just around the corner at 52 and Second Ave. It was happy hour so the drinks were reduced. we got a small table in the back and had a delightful meal. Food was not... More

So I'm a visitor and not from NYC. Murphy's is a nice little pub with basic pub food. Ours was good. It was definately not fancy, but pleasant. Good choice for a quick stop. Staff was friendly. The place isn't perfect, but it looked clean and the food was good.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
