We were exploring Chinatown and were hungrily searching for local food when we came upon 218. Very friendly staff escorted us in, and we sampled the tamer side of the menu. Orange chicken and beef broccoli were amazingly fresh, and the egg drop soup and dumplings were delicious. Very reasonably priced made this an excellent choice.

Really good BBQ, tasty dumplings and soups and excellent prices makes this place a winner. I've eaten here three times over the last week and every time the food has been fresh and tasty. I also have taken the BBQ pork away for later and it's a tasty dish. Small restaurant well worth a visit. Enjoy

Excellent Chinese food restaurant frequented by locals and some tourists. Weak on décor but strong on genuine NY Chinese food. Try the Beef Chow Fun Noodles or the Crispy Duck. Saw a fellow arrive with two live fish in a plastic grocery bag and put them into the waiting tanks facing the window. Inexpensive tasty and filling.

Family of 4 (2 kids of 6 and 9 at the time we were there). We were there in August 2013. We were looking for a place to have the so well know “Peking Duck”, and there it was, hanging on the window. From the outside the place looks small, in fact it is small. Small but cozy. We ordered... More

We were getting hungry while exploring China Town in New York City and came upon the 218 Restaurant on Grand Street. It is a small place with just over a half dozen tables. We had our usual Sweet & Sour Pork and Pork Fried Rice with a large pot of tea. The portions were large and very tasty. There were... More

Very small restaurant, 7 tables total although there is a nice sized take out area. It's definitely a local spot, mostly Asian customers. The Peking duck is a specialty and a half duck is $16.95. It's a lot of duck and they will roll about 8 pancakes for you, leaving you with quite a bit of duck left. It's easily... More

Your typical hole in the wall that we tried for the first time during a busy weekend lunch time. It was warm and sunny out and plenty of people walking around everywhere. The lunch special is available on Saturdays. A small main dish served with daily soup and white rice for $5.95 from 11am - 3pm. I tried the No.... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
