Unfortunately we were watching what we ate when we stopped in, so we ended up with salads, which probably wasn't the best choice. They were good, but I'm sure if we had opted some of the great pub food it would have been a better choice. That being said the staff here is very friendly, the bar is terrific...they had... More

My friend and I were wandering around New York and randomly chose this place to grab a bite to eat. That was one of the best decisions we ever made. Years later, I always try to come back whenever I'm in the area. I'm not sure if the burgers I've had here have been the best I've ever had in... More

This is one of the oldest bars in Ny and you can tell. It's like I stepped back in time. Menu had good pub food with wings being the popular item to order. Drinks were good, well stocked bar and a good wine selection.

The typical menu is full of good food, the specials always excellent- something for everyone. There's a great vibe to the place- like a neighborhood bar in a much smaller city. We've had the same waitress a few times over a spread out number of visits- seems like employees like it there too. Despite there always being a crowd, we... More

My wife and I enjoyed a lovley drink with some really tasty bar food in this amazing historic place from 1882. The bar is not far away from Union Square. With the very friendly staff and the vintage interior this place is like stepping back in time. Very unique!

The minute I stepped in I saw about 70% of the people with buffalo wings in front of them. Heard great things so wanted to try them out for myself. Quick service and the waitress seemed a bit wacky, or drunk. Very nice though. She also gave us a souvenir postcard when we were leaving - so sweet! Buffalo wings... More

this is a great bar in the heart of New York near Union Square. Great selection of beers. Friendly service. Didn't eat here but the food servings looked very generous in size.

Met for wings and beers the day after Christmas. Less crowded than usual. Wings were great. Beer was ice cold. Classic NYC bar.

Whilst this bar is one of the oldest in New York City, it is very much a functioning public bar more than it is a tourist attraction. The food is ok (not many choices for vegetarians) and the service is friendly. Come in to check out the old world feel and stay because it is a good pub.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
