Visited on a Friday during Lent. The fish special, Snapper with Chipotle was excellent. So was the fried oyster appetizer (didn't know that I like creamed kale). The decor is inviting, reminiscent of my childhood in Vermont, but VERY dark. I did find it a bit cramped, but the wait staff made up for any loss of privacy. The staff... More

I recently dined at "Friend of a Farmer" for the second time. As my title implies, it is a very noisy environment, so if you want to combine a meaningful conversation, while you eat your dinner, I would look for another venue. In spite of this, the restaurant appears to be very popular, as reservations are mandatory, if you want... More

There were five of us here for dinner and we were, I am sure, seated at a round table that should only have been for four. It was cramped and we were also very close to the other tables upstairs, where it is hot and it is noisy. But, we had a great evening here, with really good food presented... More

The omelettes and cheddar biscuits were really good, however we really couldn't enjoy the meal because of the cramped quarters. We were placed upstairs, which seemed to me like a fire trap. It was so crowded and so uncomfortable. The hostess was quite rude as well. Could it be that we were older than the usual crowd ? Two young... More

The pancakes were to die for and we will visit again next time we are in NY!! The table service was great, very attentive and earned every cent of their tip. The food and drink were delicious.

Fabulous setting - feels like eating in a Vermont Inn in the middle of Manhattan! Quiet street. Food was delicious... omelets served in the same cast iron skillet they are cooked in... beautifully carmelized on the bottom and fluffy throughout. French press coffee - amazing - ground fresh daily.

Really enjoyed my visit here - the menu is good wholesome food. I had the turkey which was really delicious! The cocktails were great too. The decor is very old fashioned but this adds to the whole ambience.

This little restaurant is an oasis in NYC. You step inside and you're immediately absorbed by the atmosphere, decor and gracious staff. Baskets of produce line the stairs and a series of small dining areas make for a unique experience. The food is excellent and the service very good. I ate the Herb Crusted Cod with sauteed spinach and Cannellini... More

Absolutely great, we had brunch and it was simply fantastic, from the small apple cake when you sat down, to the quality of service. The omlettes were brilliant. Highly recommend.
