My first visit to this traditional kosher deli for lunch. It was as I expected. It was big , busy, noisy and exciting. In the heart of the former garment district in Manhattan it is a real piece of New York nostalgia ! Quick, polite and no nonsense service. Servings are huge and the free pickles are the best. No problems... More

Too much food but great on a snowy day; hot pastrami and corned beef. Attentive and fast waiters; funny sayings on the wall. Easy walk from the trains and to theaters.

Centered in the heart of the best part of NYC, this old school deli makes a great dining place for jews and non-jewish guests. The place makes most ingredients by itself, and offers a very rich menu with accessible food for everyone. The waiters are very professional and welcoming and the food arrives very fast. The kids got crayons and... More

On days when I don't feel like cooking, it is so comforting to know I can walk down the street to Ben's and pick up all those great kosher Jewish specialties. My wife loves the matzoh ball soup, for example, while I always go for mushroom barley. And man, the rye bread they give you gratis with your soup is... More

This place feels like an institution of kosher food in new York.. I have the pastrami sandwich which was great really.. two slices of rye break overfilled with thinly sliced patrami! It lacked a little bit of favouring in my opinion, especially since I have been comparing it to places like Schwartz in Montreal that have Montreal Smoked Meat! But... More

Best tongue sandwich in NYC. Good quality food, reasonable prices, great services in a very clean ambience. Very kid friendly.

Decent place and very Kosher!!! Somewhat accommodating for our bus tour group of 51, but staff was very rushed and bothered when asked for refills, extra napkins, ketchup, etc..... After a busy day touring the city, it would have been nice to relax a little instead of being rushed to eat and leave for the next group.

Horrid looking, tasteless burgers, dirty water dogs in real dirty water. Tiny, dry pastrami and roast beef sammies. Good dill pickles, that should be an order. Grilled veggies are burned. Harmless looking fat red peppers are burning hott!! Grilled shrooms are the cheap, small ones from can. Unidentifiable brown burgers, can't tell if it's a knish. Disgusting veggie burgers. Corn... Visited this deli for lunch and was really looking forward to a tasty kosher meal. The decor was okay, the toilets dirty and the food average. Not as delicious as described on the menu. As for the waiter, I have never known such behaviour. He didn't even stay long enough by the table to get a drinks order. When I... More

Description
To some, delicatessen is something you put between two slices of bread. To me, it's a calling. I am committed to preserving the traditional cuisine of my Eastern European heritage, amidst all that's required to operate a modern restaurant. This is our pledge, from the Ben's family to you: Fresh food, freshly prepared and courteously served in a clean, well-maintained restaurant faithfully observing the Kosher dietary laws. I urge you to bring anything less to my personal attention by calling 1-888-344-BENS or filling out my "Ask Ronnie" form and submitting it with your questions or comments. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. Any concerns will receive my prompt attention. - Ronnie Dragoon - Owner.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
