Bland surroundings and even blander staff. Looks like they only hire young, skinny female models, all who lack personality. Was asked if I wanted eggs and bacon or potatoes with my french toast. Was NOT told that it was an upcharge of $8. Eggs benedict was nothing special, just like this experience.

Like many NYC "diners," the facility is as shabby as it gets with frayed cushions and tired furniture but my French Toast with Berries was excellent! As we're the other breakfast items for my guests. The Herb fries would be better served "un-herbed" as the Rosemary overwhelmed the perfectly done spud.

Stopped in on a whim and glad we did. The food was great and so was the service. Mostly local trade. Located across from Union Square park so lots going on. Lump Crab Eggs Benedict with a Bloody Mary was perfect. I will come here again.

Located directly across from Union Square park..out door seating, indoor ample Bar , counter seating, rest rooms ( clean, but dark)... No issue getting seated.. the middle section has outdated chairs that need to be replaced..you get a sunken feeling.. We sat for quite awhile.. before anyone acknowledged our presence.. busboy served us water and we sat some more We noted... More

We were in NY and meeting a friend for a Saturday morning breakfast. We wanted something pretty simple and also affordable; the Coffee Shop, just off Union Sq., seemed like the perfect fit. Overall, it was fine, but not fantastic. The decor is classic diner decor, with a Brazilian flare. It could use some freshening but has a fun retro... More

The place has a lot of loyal clientele and is large enough that you can usually find a table or a counter seat. The food is pedestrian and nothing to really enjoy beyond being passable, the service is efficient and friendly and the vibe one of "see we are cool because we are eating in a faux coffee shop."

Every day is a new day, don't assume a place is there forever to stay as you knew it. This is not The Coffee Shop I used to go to. Staff on the edge of rude, menu changed. caotic kitchen output. A big discount didn't help much. What is cooking?

I have been here plenty of times. The food is great! The place is much bigger than you'd think but they do not accept lunch reservations so the place is always crowded. They do have outdoor seating as well. Great location!

Unfortunately this outlet isn't as good as it appears. We found the staff slow & not very attentive. One waiter even asked if our food was ok before we had even taken a bite. Its overpriced & very average! I even found a hair in my breakfast, But couldn't be bothered to complain. Was glad to pay the bill &... More

We had been in the area seeing some of the sights and wanted a quick light bite. We were seated quickly and our order taken by a friendly member of staff. Drinks arrived quickly and dinner soon followed. Our light bite was enormous but very very tasty. yes it was only burgers and fries but I have seen places get... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
