My friends and I went to The Center for Jewish History on 16th Street and up the block was The Coffee Shop. My friend eats there often and likes it so we went there for lunch. I had the most delicious brisket sandwich which was the special for the day. It was moist and had some additions in the sandwich... More

Upside: Milkshakes were well-sized and fries were well-seasoned. Downside: Air conditioning wasn't strong enough and service was ok, not great. They didn't seem to care about service us attentively.

I've been to this restaurant a few times, and while the food is good the location is the real draw. There are lots of outdoor tables to relax at and enjoy the action of Union Square, tons of students and models walking by and always something new to see. The inside is more diner-like, with booths and a winding counter... More

We took a chance on this place in NYC. It looks like a local hangout for nearby residents. However, the service was a bit slow and there was a mix up with the order. The omelets were fine but the plantains were bland. $40 for breakfast food with a side order of plantains and two waters was a bit high. Then... More

Nice to sit outside and watch what's happening in Union Square. Good comfort food. We enjoyed the sangria!

We were walking by and attracted by the outdoor tables. The food was very good and the portions generous; the service excellent; and the ambiance was fun - a slice of New York on a Sunday morning: joggers, tourists, locals on their way to yoga or to walk the dog, an outdoor exercise class.

The food's nothing to write home about, but it's not bad either..pretty standard offering. It's close to everything and they serve breakfast all day....so you can't beat that!

I liked this restaurant, because it faces Union Square Park. I liked the omelet as an entrée, and a piece of chocolate cake for dessert.

This place is average at best. The main reason my friends and I still come here is out of habit. And the only thing I've ever loved was the Brazilian style cheesy bread. But we found out they got rid of them. How sad. I had an omelette with a side salad. It was fine but not one to visit... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
