Surprising, because the reviews I read before my visit were either wildly enthusiastic or very negative. Our service was excellent and the food was good, cooked to order. Pricing is what you expect at a good NYC steakhouse. There were even reasonable wine options. Worth a visit in my opinion

My brother, my husband and I have a Christmas Eve tradition of coming here to share a cocktail or two. It's a shame the Waldorf Astoria is closing next month, because we love the ambiance and the service we always get here. This visit, Edmond took great care of us. I hope the management tries to help the employees here... More

My husband and I were staying at the Waldorf Astoria for Thanksgiving and decided to book our Thanksgiving meal at the Bull and Bear for convenience sake. It was a Prix Fixe menu at $150 pp. We found the service very slow (it took us 45 minutes to get our first course), the food ordinary (we had the turkey dinner)... More

The restaurant is in the Waldorf Astoria building. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the greeting and waiting staff are superb. I had the best filet mignon I have ever had in my life. Nothing else to say, except superb!

We stopped in for a drink before dinner and ended up heading to La Chine next door. While the drinks were fine, it was a bit difficult to catch the bartender's eye. when we asked to a bowl of nuts, well one would have thought we had asked for something unusual... but they were elsewhere on the bar... all in... Thank you for the lovely evening and good service. A bit pricey and in need of menu fixing. Perhaps management will consider when re-opening in the future.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
