Very friendly staff and excellent food. Must try: the baked brie, and you can never go wrong with the steak frites.

Found this place by accident wandering around the village. Nice friendly bar...The first night we simply had a prosecco and a very good Shiraz. We returned the following night (late December). We booked in advance which was just as well as the place was full. Excellent food - the French onion soup the standout dish. We were last out, but... More

We went to this quaint eatery on Friday night to meet friends to celebrate a birthday. It's a small place seating about 24-30 maybe with a tiny bar in front with 7 stools or so. It's just beer and wine, but they have a great selection and lots of champagne too. Let's get to it. Super friendly and welcoming staff.... More

The prix fixe menu (between 5:00 - 7:30) delivers real tastes of France, at a very reasonable price, particularly for NYC. Nothing is missing except the bill in euros, and you could not do much better in France for the equivalent quality and selection. We chose the $3 supplements for escargots and pâté maison, and the bavette frites. And, the... More

I had a great Foie Gras to start, accompanied by the best GNOCCHI of my life , with a great bottle of wine and a amazing chocolate mousse to cap my night out with my girlfriend. I will be back for sure.

Food outstanding with excellent 'rapport prix qualité'. Staff competent and friendly. It feels like France. It's a loud, buzzy place that crams in its customers. We were fine with that.

Le Baratin is a cute neighborhood French bistro. The staff all speak French so you feel like you've been transported to Paris. They serve all of your typical French classics there like coq co vin, steak frites, moule frites etc and most of the food I've tried have all been quite tasty. The place gets busy so definitely worth making... More

By sheer luck we ate at this gem on Sunday. It reminds you of an intimate bistro in Paris. The service was wonderful. The food was so good. We had the moules marinieres, salmon in seasonal veggies, beef bourguignon, onion soup, and mousse. My husband and son-in-law both had the beef and said it definitely reminded them of Paris. The... Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
