During happy hours, you can enjoy in the Bar of the Oyster Bar (not the restaurant) at the bar Blue Point Oysters for 1.50/pc, which are great and tasty.

This is a gem with a great atmosphere and staff that just take you on a journey. Grand Central is just like all the movies show and it's brilliant to walk in and instantly recognize all the features and land marks. Local New Yorkers told us about the Oyster Bar here and we were not disappointed. It's not fine dining... More

While the Oyster Bar has never been a 'cheap date' it is still worth the price for the broad selection of fresh oysters and the look on an out-of-towner's face when the experience is done. A Sunday morning, just as it's opening, almost no one but travelers, it is great. I will gripe that the shucker wasn't the best; we... More

So glad we're always worth it for you. Shucking incident aside, it sounds like you were able to enjoy quite a wide variety of our oysters, which is fantastic. Don't be a stranger -- we'd love to see you back again soon. Take care, Frank, General Manager More

Well, guess what you should order if you go to the GCOB? No. not clams. Oysters! All oysters are not the same! They're different sizes, different textures, different tastes, and different prices. Ask the waiters for the differences. Most waiters will spell it out for you. Don't be shy and not ask. It's worth it. Get the homemade horseradish. It's... More

Nestled in the arches the restaurant is both welcoming and good value for the quality. The staff were very friendly, offering to take photos without being asked. Hubby had the fabulous lobster (with bib) and I had the lobster roll, each about $32. Great quality. New menu every day, wished we had time to go back as there was so... More

The best soup with crustaceans I've EVER had anywhere on the planet, is the Oyster Pan Roast at Grand Central Station’s iconic Oyster Bar!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been there in ages, so imagine how amazing it was for me to pop in a week ago for something I hadn't had for at least seven years and find it tasted better than... More

Famous for the vast menu and fresh seafood, it had to be one of our destinations while in NYC. It was exceptional with our oysters. There was a wide selection from both Atlantic and Pacific and don't know how they could have been more fresh. Main course was only very good. I love grouper and rarely find it at home... More

What an honor to hear that we were "exceptional!" We always strive to be the very best we can be -- glad to see that shined through. It sounds like we could have done better with our grouper and our bouillabaisse though, so I'll keep your feedback in mind, too. Hope we'll be seeing you back soon -- you're always... More

We could not wait to get to this place! The architecture alone the history. I loved it. Then, this restaurant. We ate at the oyster bar. That's what I call it. Not in the clubby bar (also looked cool!) in the back, not at the old-fashioned diner like seats which were very popular. We had some of the best chowder... More

Fresh oysters were fantastic and reasonably priced. Oyster with Stilton butter was good. Oysters Rockefeller mediocre. Soft shell crab mediocre. Atmosphere is meh. Tourist trap of sorts. Would not go again- better places in NYC.

Description
Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
