Description: Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover....
Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

The Oyster Bar has a wide variety of oysters and fresh seafood. The restaurant is built into the basement of Grand Central terminal and offers good value for money. Daily new menu with specials and extensive wine list complement the offering. The atmosphere is relaxed and good for various occasions.

We ordered the clam chowder soup and oyster platter. The soup was served lukewarm however they did heat it up when we requested. The oysters, though expensive, were tiny and shrivelled up. We ate them thinking NY oysters must be inferior to Australian oysters. However when I went to the ladies after our meal i noticed that other diners had... More

I'm sorry to hear that your oysters were a bit of a letdown. We're pretty well-known for them, and we usually get better feedback than this, so I'm a little disappointed. Also, the size of your oysters heavily depends on what oysters you order. That said, we'll talk about this as a team, and see if we can do a... More

The oysters were tasty and seafood was great at the Oyster Bar. Located right in the middle of Grand Central Station, this huge restaurant has great atmosphere. The lobster roll was delicious.

With its Guastavino tiled ceiling lit with hundreds of soft lights and its checkered tablecloths and comfortable seating, this wonderful fish house speaks of older times. Located on the lower level of Grand Central terminal tucked behind fast food travelers' dining, the restaurant offers a huge variety of dishes guaranteed to whet the appetite of anyone with the slightest liking... We entered the bar area to have some light fare and drinks while waiting for a train. There were only 3 other people there and we sat at a table. After being served our drinks and appetizers we waited for our waitress to return. The next time we saw her was to bring us the check. The food was less... More

K, I'm sorry we couldn't live up to our reputation when you visited. Far from being a last resort, we''re considered to be an age-old New York institution known for delicious food and friendly service, so this kind of experience is surprising to hear. Nevertheless, it sounds like we need to get our staff into shape, and I appreciate you... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
