Upscale Chinese Restaurant. Excellent food and service but prices are 'over the top". Enjoyed the experience but there has to be better values available.

I would give only 3 for the food, as its old fashioned, too oily and not sophisticated. The service is high class and the decor is good.

Nothing ever changes including the staff. Note that when the restaurant is BUSY, the food can be GREAT otherwise just good. Why would being "slow" make such a difference?

I have been coming here since I was a teen and returned with my daughter and mom. The service is always impeccable. All of the food was just as delicious as I remembered. The decor with the gold dragon is beautiful. We ate here on...More

The first thing that strikes you as you enter Shun Lee is red and black decor, very 50's elegant but a little too close-quarter feeling. But once seated it's pretty comfortable. The service is 3-star Michelin, but slightly overdone for a Chinese restaurant where I...More

Whenever I come to NYC, I try an stop at Shun Lee Palace (near Lexington and 55th). It is a fancy Chinese Restaurant with exceptional duck, sizzling rice soup, and fish dishes. Not necessarily a place for kids; more of a special night out. Enjoy!

We needed to grab a quick bite before the Opera yesterday. The maitre'd was able to accommodate us and feed us in 30 minutes a delicious meal of dim sum. Service was attentive, dim sum (which I have not been a fan of in the...More

The food of this restaurant is of good quality. However the service is unprofessional. We were three and we asked whether there is an assorted appetizer. The answer was yes but at the end we were charged for 5 different individual dishes at normal price....More

This was a great place to eat, elegant, excellent food and great service. The dishes are a little out of the ordinary, but were uniformly excellent. I posted a review earlier, but apparently the bugs ate it.

Went as a group of 6 on our last night in NYC. Food was hit and miss but worst of all was the rushed and rude service. We were advised by a friend in Manhattan that Chinese restaurants tend to rip people off in the...More

Wear whatever you want. You might be the only person dining with them. I doubt they'd turn away the business
