Recommended by a friend, went for Saturday lunch. Got straight in. Crammed tables and very loud brash punters beside us so don't go for a romantic dining experience. That said, sweet lobster, lovely chowder, fried oysters. Friendly.

My friends and I are continually searching for the best lobster roll we've ever had. The one at Mary's is high on the list in my opinion: nice big chunks of tail meat (a little too much mayo for my taste), served in the right kind of roll and hot, crispy fries. What more could one want? The fried clam... More

Just eat here. We arrived at 6pm, looked like there was a line, but our party of four was apparently right for the table available. For weeks we knew our mission: lobster rolls and fries. Mary's came through, though we thought the cook was heavy on the mayo this time. Still our advice is: just eat here.

I only live part time in NYC, when I'm there I try to enjoy seafood whenever possible and Mary's never disappoints. The food is wonderful, staff all super friendly and the location couldn't be any better, right on a corner, 2 blocks from my house! I can put my name on their list, go home, have a glass of wine,... This place was recommended from a friend who works in the city, and my word did it rock my world. The fried oyster Po Boy ($17) + lobster roll (market price aka expensive, but so worth it) were so freaking good I died after one bite. The service is friendly and the space itself is quirky chic. They serve Coney... More

Set in the heart of Greenwich Village in a corner position this superb little fish restaurant really hit the spot for us. There is no table booking but upon arrival the owner kindly said that she would give us a quick call when our table was ready - (about a half hour wait and a good chance for a pre-dinner... More

We've had lunch here before and were just lucky to turn up before the lengthy wait line started forming. We sat at the bar and had a spectacular view of the kitchen. I was particularly fascinated by the dishwasher, and it says something about the establishment that they don't try and hide any of their operations from the public. The... More

The fried oyster/clam appetizer is so delicious that I came back a 2nd day and ordered the exact same thing.

I've been going to Mary's for so long I can't remember and always visit there when I'm in NY. The Lobster rolls rule and the ultra thin fries are the perfect thing to have with them. You can't go wrong with this one, except to get there too late as they are limited supply each day. Also typically start with... More

Strolling through the West Village in search of a casual place for early dinner mid-week, and happened on this small, buzzy, friendly place. Greeted warmly by staff who also explained specials and wine choices. Shared side salad (fresh and plentiful) and a corn cake with crab and avocado appetizer (delicious mix of flavors and textures). Friend had seared scallops over... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
