Set in the heart of Greenwich Village in a corner position this superb little fish restaurant really hit the spot for us. There is no table booking but upon arrival the owner kindly said that she would give us a quick call when our table was ready - (about a half hour wait and a good chance for a pre-dinner... More

We've had lunch here before and were just lucky to turn up before the lengthy wait line started forming. We sat at the bar and had a spectacular view of the kitchen. I was particularly fascinated by the dishwasher, and it says something about the establishment that they don't try and hide any of their operations from the public. The... More

The fried oyster/clam appetizer is so delicious that I came back a 2nd day and ordered the exact same thing.

I've been going to Mary's for so long I can't remember and always visit there when I'm in NY. The Lobster rolls rule and the ultra thin fries are the perfect thing to have with them. You can't go wrong with this one, except to get there too late as they are limited supply each day. Also typically start with... More

Strolling through the West Village in search of a casual place for early dinner mid-week, and happened on this small, buzzy, friendly place. Greeted warmly by staff who also explained specials and wine choices. Shared side salad (fresh and plentiful) and a corn cake with crab and avocado appetizer (delicious mix of flavors and textures). Friend had seared scallops over... More

Tiny place, very cute and cosy and absolutely need to book in advance and maybe not your top choice if you want to have private conversations. I had the lobster, which was amazing. We ordered a bottle of wine and they gave us water glasses, which was disappointing but food was so great we forgot quite soon.

With a casual atmosphere and flavorful seafood, Mary's Fish Camp is quickly becoming my West Village staple. Start with the spicy campechana with crab, shrimp, avocado and serrano. The grilled whole fish entrée is a must – super fresh and delicious!

We went here for lunch while visiting NYU. It is charming inside --small but with a cute nautical theme. The food was good but the portions were small (except for the fries which we couldn't finish!) The bill for 3 starters and fries with no drinks came to $60 with tip. The seafood was fresh and the service was good.

What didn't I like! It was fab food and an fun, electric atmosphere. This place is small so know that you will be sitting very close to the people at the next table. Great service.

1.Go Earlier. ASAP The restaurant open at 6pm! 2.Choose the Lobster Roll, not Whole Lobster. 3.Enjoy! I went there with my BF. Since he told me he's never eaten WHOLE boil or grill Lobster, so wanted him to eat it to be foodie. We arrived at right after 6pm, it was almost packed and few seats have left. We sat... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
