My wife and I dined at JoJo's this past Friday (July, 15th, 2016) and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The service was excellent and the creativity of the food and its quality were outstanding. My wife had the Charred Octopus appetizer and I had the Salmon Sushi appetizer. Both were excellent. Then we both enjoyed the 12oz New York Strip Steak. The... More

We chose jojo for our grandmothers 91 birthday dinner. As my wife and I had dined here many times before we were not disappointed in choosing jojo as the venue for her birthday dinner. All of our dishes were well executed and the attentive but not pushy service was excellent.

This week we visited JoJo, a romantic boutique French restaurant on the Upper East Side on the first night of our honeymoon. It was recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint. The food, old world ambience and charm, and service were outstanding, as was the wine list. When Danny, our waiter, learned that we were honeymooning, he sent us home... More

I have been to several of Jean-Georges restaurants. This one more low key and relatively inexpensive to the others. Good for causal dining or a private party. Food was as always stellar except there was no budging here from the tasting menu. My wife has food allergies so we were a bit disappointed about that.

I used to go to JoJo's often when I lived on the upper east side. The food is usually light and healthy compared to other high end restaurants. You wouldn't feel badly eating here often. The food is very innovative and most of the time excellent. I had an octopus appetizer that haunted me so much that we went back... More

I've been going to JoJo for 20 years and it is Devine. Creative menu, great food and kind, genuine service. Thought and care is put into every detail and that cones through in the food. I brought family for dinner in March and as natives they are going back. We had fish, beef, chicken and everything was spectacular. Save room... More

Quaint, comfortable, smallish restaurant with excellent service and wonderful food - particularly the fish. We were a group of 6 and loved it because we could talk without having to yell.

Very good midweek, early-evening Dinner. We almost missed the entrance to this quietly understated restaurant. Just as well we didn't.... The Crab Cumin starter was exquisite and my companion's Ginger Margarita caused quite a stir. The ambience was very pleasant, but the area in which we sat was a little gloomy rather than the hoped-for quaintly-romantic.

Lovely sophisticated pink townhouse with a great French-inspired menu. We went for Mothers Day dinner, five of us, and each of us agreed the food and ambiance were outstanding. Two of us had the chicken, I had the steak and the others had salmon. The service was perfect. Not rushed, not inattentive, but timed perfectly. Our waitress was one of... More

Description
JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint, turn-of-the-century brownstone on the Upper East Side. The first of Jean-Georges’ restaurants in New York City, this neighborhood gem opened in 1991 to rave reviews. It was voted best new restaurant of the year by Esquire magazine and has retained its three-star status from the New York Times for 21 years. Regarding the name, JoJo was Chef Jean-Georges’ nickname as a young boy. Jojo is a hospitable setting for a casual dinner, special occasion, or private party. Guests can feel comfortable in jeans or in evening attire. The contemporary French menu still features some well-loved original dishes, including the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
