Dinner was delicious and service was really great. The short ribs and pan fried chicken were very tasty. Good sangria too!

We were walking up third Avenue on our way to the New York City Museum and stopped at the Barking Dog because we liked the name. This is a restaurant that caters to locals because it is in a bustling residential area. and it was quite busy -- another good sign when the locals like a place. The place is... More

This is a really charming and relaxed cafe with good service and a fantastic menu...plenty of options for sweet or savoury breakfasts. We had a lovely relaxed breakfast with our friends on our final morning in NYC and it was a perfect place to meet with friends...quiet and comfortable, with a large variety of dishes on the breakfast and brunch... We found this place to be a friendly, comfortable place for a casual family dinner. Arugula burger was tasty. Salmon OK. Chicken pretty good. House Malbec tasty. We'll be back.

An interesting menu, and a wonderful collection of paintings and other objects related to dogs. Service is very friendly, and there are lots of odd corners so it is easy to share a table and converse. The menu is pretty long, but having tried several dishes here, I would say quality is consistent and very good. Also, good cleanliness.

Arriving late, to our weekend rental place on 96th, we were pleased to find a row of restaurants a couple of blocks away. This seemed the most cheerful and was reassuringly busy, though not crammed. Cheery waiters and an enticing menu, although a bit long. I had oysters and slow cooked rib, she had salmon. Both tasty and in European... More

Went for lunch . Service was slow though it wasn't crowded. Food was just okay. Nothing special, and can do better in the neighborhood.

I used to eat here for brunch and always had decent food. Love their biscuit. Went this past Thursday and wow... My kale salad was bad. Bad as in the brown colored spoiled kale used did not taste very fresh. Not to mention the inattentive waitstaff and busboys who spoke no English. Hand signals even failed. I ended up ordering... We discovered this restaurant when staying on Lexington Ave during a 2 night visit to NYC. The prices were even cheaper than some we are used to in Florida---mimosas for $5 and a grilled vegetable sandwich for $9. Delicious food, nice portion sizes, prompt and friendly service and suited our budget perfectly. Small booths / tables inside and additional seating... More

I have eaten at the Barking Dog Restaurant on the upper east side many times in the past and the food was decent. I went a few months ago and the food was very disappointing. I decided to try the restaurant once again last night. What a mistake. We went for dinner and the portion of food was small, the... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
