We visited here on New Year’s Eve as recommended by our hotel. There was a set menu of 3 courses of French dishes including different options of meat and fish. We both had steak which was really tasty. At the end of our meal we...were also given free champagne - a lovey touch on New Year’s Eve. The decor is lovely, French themed, very cosy with dim lighting, candles and nice artwork. Staff were friendly, albeit we had a long wait between our main and dessert but think this was down to how busy the restaurant was. The house wine was excellent and well priced for New York City. Would return to try the normal menu!More

The menu is terrific - something for everyone. Very good service and classic, old New York ambiance. It is perfection.

Great food and service. You felt as if you were back in Paris. The escargot, beef bourginion, was very authentic. Small quaint and very homey. The chocolate soufflé was out of this world. Will go back as often as I can.

I was hoping for a good, old-fashioned French restaurant. I ordered snails which were, believe it or not, bland... relatively tasteless. I ordered steak and let the chef decide how long it needed to be cooked. It wasn't bad, it just wan't good either. The...drinks and the wine were good. We skipped dessert.More

This small French restaurant has decent food and a cozy atmosphere. Plus the burger is excellent as are the frites.

I understand the title is a bit confusing, but we love Paris, and we love small Parisian bistros, and this is off the beaten path, and it does a wonderful job of re-creating that feel of a place that can somehow deliver really wonderful food...in a very unpretentious manner. Several visits now, so I feel like I can write this based on experience. It is just away from the avenue, and the street is (unfortunately) busy with a parking lot across the street, but the ambience is somehow spared and you can sit outside and enjoy the experience. Inside, the bar is very comfortable and looks like it was delivered from Paris. Small tables, but big enough. Wine list is a bit slim, but represents all styles and all are fairly priced and well selected. You'll recognize a few names. Cocktails are very well done. But, the food is the reason you came and this is pretty amazing. They are true to the Parisian feel with the menu, and all we have tried has been very, very good. Escargot? Yes, and very good. Salads are French and fresh and tasty. The mains are really nice. I have been leaning to specials and the scallops the other evening came over a very savory pepper and vegetable saute and were about the best scallops I have had. Steak frites is perfect. Great fries. Desserts are also quite good, but we've usually been pretty done before then. The other evening they had a bread pudding with a pistachio ice cream that I just had to make room for. In a way, I'd prefer this place to remain unknown, but it is quite a neighborhood gem. We will definitely return.More

My husband and I ate here the other night. We picked the restaurant from reviews on TripAdvisor. What a great choice! The onion soup was superb. We each had the Steak au Poivre. Both were cooked perfectly. The frites that came with the steak were...the best. Even the small salad on the plate was delicious - and a great palate cleanser. Very nice selection of wine. We opted for a ‘better’ bottle, as this was part of a birthday weekend. Definitely will return and highly recommend!More

The hangar steak was amazing and nice wine selection. The tables are somewhat close so you can hear conversations on both sides of you. The staff was lovely and everything was pretty reasonably priced. There is a cute area to sit outside but in an...enclosed space.More

deux amis is a small French bistro on the east side in mid-town that has been there for quite a while now, and it remains a great dinner place. no lunches are served, just dinner. however, they do do a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays....the food is delicious, a varied selection, and the prices are very fair, especially when you consider the quality you are getting. the restaurant is small, so booking ahead might be a wise thing to do. overall, I find it charming, affordable, and with a very good wine list - not extensive, but a little something from everywhere. you could do a lot worse than stopping here some evening for a nice, quiet meal.More

I've gone there now for years, sometimes just for cheese plate, pommes frites and wine at the bar, sometimes for full 3-4 course dinners, and it's always excellent. I live downtown in West Village and Come all the way up town just to come here,...esp when I have friends staying uptown, need place to bring work friends who are with the UN, Amis and I downtown need a place to have a quiet meal and conversation. They are always excellent, the place always feels special. the crowd is very casual elegant, There aren't enough stars for this place, the food, drinks, ambiance, crowd, owner and staff, All around excellent.More
